If the idea of a 35 MPG Prius with 30 more HP appeals to you, it could be done. But it would be way cheaper to buy a Corolla and sell the Prius.

Why not? I like to tinker with things. And I have weird sense of humor. I was thinking recamming from an Atkinson back to an Otto and maybe throwing some powerplant at it would be funny. Just imagine the looks of people watching a little prius fly off the line.

I would rather change the traction battery and traction motor to gain MORE power and fuel economy

Then it will really fly off the line and get much better mileage  You could sandbag the rice rockets and have a blast :ROFLMAO:

After watching the Tesla test mules fly around out here, I would put my efforts into the electrical
side of the system if you wanted to make it faster. The added benefit of more torque from an electric drive will beat fossil fuel power delivery system in the long run. Plus they wouldn't think to look at a traction motor when you open the hood. They would be looking for some morphed out ICE

I use to run a two cylinder Rotax in my Sea-Doo and all the 4 cylinder guys couldn't believe it when I opened the seat and they saw that little tiny power plant that just handed them a loss.
I have a sick sense of humor and use it to my advantage :ROFLMAO:

If you wanted more power from a Prius, (no idea why you would) converting it to the Miller Cycle would be simpler than converting it to the Otto Cycle.

Now this would be a nice engine swap.
