I use the pulse and glide when on surface street. I get up to speed quickly then off the gas so the EV kicks on, and then I ride the waive of savings until I get someone behind me that wants to go over the speed limit. It seems to work well. Anyone have anything for HWY use? I do 46 miles each way to work.

I typically gas harder when I know its down hill to take advantage of gravity. Then I hope the momentum carries me back up the incoming hill before I get run over by people who think I'm speeding recklessly.

I do the same thing. I try and go into EV mode when I'm crusing down the street and no one is following. I've ended up with at least 50 to 65 MPG in some cases. I've filled up my tires to 50 PSF too. Not sure what else I can do.

I too push the tires up in PSF, I do not run the A/C, I keep the windows up and only a crack to get cooler air, I will run that A/C on hot days but I do conserve. When going up hills I try to keep it out of the red as long as possible, as long as no one is behind me. I just added my 30th gas receipt to the Dashboard fuelly . com and I am getting 52.7 for over 11,500 miles. Not too bad.

Did you miss an update? Your dashboard says 51.8? Weird. I just rolled over 10k and am right at 52.7 myself. I'm loving the warmer weather.

So, I bumped my tires up to 40 PSI and waxed my ride, took the chose of driving next to others or in packs and netted a 56.1 MPG this last tank. I made the changes at 1/2 tank. It will be interesting to see how a full tank turns out. It bumped my YTD to 53.1 Sweet!

My tires were 50 psi from the dealer. I drove it for about 2 weeks before lowering it to 42 psi. Ride is a bit smoother now and no real hit to FE. Aside from hypermiling techniques, I also got ceramic tint for heat reduction and privacy.

You can see the chart and see what going up to 40 PSI is the tires did for me.

I use 60 psi on my Insight and I stepped it up 5 psi at a time. Each time mileage increased. Even the 55 to 60 psi step. But I am not going to try 65psi.

I've been running the AC and it only seems to take about 1 mpg off of mileage. I've found quality of gas a bigger factor, went to Sams Club once and I thought the car was having problems mileage dropped so markedly.

i used some 93 octane gas once, and i felt as if it hurt the mileage. i filled up the tank with it once and since then, i am sticking with regular gas.

Curious: Do nitrogen-filled tires gain more MPG than regular air-filled tires?

IMO:) no. air is somthing like 90% nitrogen. the theory is that oxegen causes the tires to age faster and the nitrogen does not. also the nitrogen gas has larger particles so they dont loose pressure as easy. I think it is all a gimic. tires start to get checking or little cracks from the weather after they get old. unless your tires last you a long time the nitrogen will never have an impact on the tire at all.
