how much fuel left in PriusC tank when it shows empty (the last bar blinks and car beeps)

That's where I am lucky and what makes this the perfect car for me. My daily drive consists of to and from work, 9.7 miles each way, and to and from post office, 7.4 miles each way. Even my weekend excursions don't take me out of those boundaries. Someday, perhaps...

 

That's why the car is perfect for both of us... I drive over 24k miles every year just to work and back... the savings in gas alone are amazing.

 

Same here, I've gone about 40 miles on that last block. I think that's as far as I will push it!

 

When the last bar went I stopped for gas in about 10 miles; took 8.5 gal to fill to the nearest dollar after the auto fill kicked out.

 

Same here, about a gallon left after it beep beep

 

Yeah, the farthest I have gone was 75 miles after the beep... I was only nervous about the last 5, but that ended up being crazy as the car took only 9.2 gallons to refill. I have no desire to push this car...

 

Toyota Japan calls the tank 36 liters (about 9.5 gallons).

Well, that would explain a few things....

 

After a quick search, all I can come up with is that the Aqua has a 36L tank... where did you see 40?

 

The owners manual... Unfortunately, it was the owners manual for a different car... sigh. It's 12:30am, after a long, long day in the garage... Aqua is 36. good lookin' out.

 

I hate it when I do that...

 

I start looking for fuel when it hits three bars.

 

And Toyota Australia calls the Prius c 36 litres also.

 

I ran out of gas yesterday on the freeway, exited and filled up. Scariest 2 minutes of my life. First the gas engine goes off and feels like the gas pedal went soft. The car displays ev mode, and surprisingly got upto 45mph. I filled it up and it clicked off at 9.867 gallons. I topped it of to 10 even.

 

Scary, I hope to never end up in the same situation!

 

Good thing you had a way to do even 45 though... right?

 

Oh yeah. I was so happy that battery was fully charged.

 

So the real question of the day... how far did you make it after the light started flashing...

 

49 miles. I was on my way to work. Just got on google maps amd tracked my way to work that day. Because when I got in the car, it beeped low fuel from the beginning.

 

So it may have beeped on the previous trip and you didn't notice? Do you know what your mpgs were for the last 49? If you were on the hwy, I would say around 45.
