Hmm... Can someone clarify something for me? My VIN is constructed slightly different than the above examples. It has an "X" where the number or pound sign (#) is after the TB3 above. My first 8 characters match, and my last 7 numerical digits fall in between the two above, and I don't know where the preceding digits TMEJ Iwate #1 and #2 come from. Can't find that on any of my documents.

Can anyone shed any light on whether I'm in the group. I definitely have an occasional rattle coming from that area on bad pavement, but thought it was the dash panel above.

So how do you know if you "qualify or not"? My last 7 digits are:
1013131 - all my characters before match up - too ! At the # - what's that supposed to be?

I believe the # is the year... but I'm probably wrong. But it looks like yours is not inside the number.

Mine are between the two "TMEJ Iwate".
So I assuming that I'm one of the ones to replace it. Right?

TMEJ stands for Toyota Motor East Japan.
Iwate is the name of the prefecture where the plant is located.
#1 & #2 indicate the production line number.
The "#" in the VIN are placeholders for a character that is not relevant to this TSB.

So, the vehicles manufactured with VIN JTDKDTB3#C1017738 or later from line #1, or JTDKDTB3#C1516938 from line #2 already have the updated part.

If the 12th digit of your vehicle is a "0" and the remainder of your VIN is less than 17738, or if the 12th digit is a "5" and the remainder of your VIN is less than 16938, your vehicle may be affected.

Ah, so his was affected and I read it wrong... it helps if I read the instructions before answering the questions... always did fail on that part of the quiz, lol. Col127, you are part of this as your car was before.

So If what you said is correct and following you all models between JTDKDTB3#C1017738 - JTDKDTB3#C1516938 are the affected ones right.

Anyway I went to the local Toyota dealer to verify this, the first question they asked was "Where do you get this?" je je.

Then they do some research and calls, they said that yes I'm one of the affected ones, but they have to verify my vehicle first in order to proceed with the bulletin.

Check your door tag. It's pretty easy when you have the tag sitting in front you these numbers. If yours is the number mentioned above or higher, you are good. If your number is below the numbers above, you need to get them changed.

Where is the 37 located? Is it literally C37? If so then you have the newer part and don't need to worry.
