I'm in Detroit once a month and they re some of the most aggressive drivers. They floor it at every stop light and then slam on the breaks a quarter mile later. You there long? I usually stay in Farmington Hills or just a bit south.
At the Southfield Marriott thru Sat AM then headin home to exchange the RAV4 for a Sienna Heading to Louisville Monday for the week. A while back I was running ~90 up I-75 heading to the UP in a rental Prius Still managed to get ~45 mpg on that tank. Lots more Prii over here now. I was impressed seeing so many when we rolled into town yesterday. One of these days we are gonna cross paths with all the travelin we both do in the same states. We have a '13 RAV4 on this trip. The new firmer suspension rides like a goat on these dandy roads around this state. The Sienna will be nice next week. Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
If you ever get close to Detroit, there is a restaurant called the Fly Trap in Ferndale, it's on Woodward ave right by 9 mile road. It's one of those new trendy hipster places, the food is phenomenal. We will definitely cross paths one of these days, looks like you frequently visit a lot of the same areas.
We gonna check out that place tonight for dinner If your into BBQ check out Bandana's in Corralville IA. Yummy stuff. They are also in MO. Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
Nice! Let me know what you think. Their mac and cheese has caramelized onions on the bottom and is amazing. I'll try Bandana's, there is one in St. Peters I believe. There's a place by it that I go to called Little Micky's, it's a hole in the wall but the food is really good.
My soon to be wife and our son are Mac n Cheese fans We have to run out to Howell later today but will be back for dinner and checkin out that new place. Are you on Facebook? I document our travels on my page. Kinda EZ to figure out where I'm at near real time that way. Fun stuff Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
Ahh. Nothing to miss then. How do you compare the headlights between the two? The 2012 had the flood led removed, but the projectors are probably more powerful to cover the lack of the flood lamp.
I love the daytime running lamps and the "parking lights". Also, the headlights seem much brighter. I haven't driven it at night too often but definitely love how they look. Just finally got my title yesterday, got it registered today and getting my 10K service done right now even though she's at 6500 miles. Apparently the old owner got the 5K done at 3500 miles or so.
Dropped the Prius off at the dealer tonight. Driving Thursday night, I lost all volume. Everything works fine, but there is no sound coming out of the speakers. I hope I can get it back tomorrow. Drove 246 miles today with a jambox on the dash...
Were you using Bluetooth music from your phone? I had an issue once running mine that way. Mike in Coralville IA Mobile on my SGH-i717
Not at that particular time. What was your issue? Get a nice storm today? I'm happily in Milwaukee/Chicago this week. Did you end up going to the fly trap?
It was something about my phone communicating with the audio system. I don't recall the fix. I had tried so many different things and gave up so I used the AUX Input with a cable from my phone. Storms have been crazy the last 3 times thru Iowa. Got nailed again today with rain. Got hailed on last Saturday down here. We were too late for the Fly Trap as we went to a Lexus dealer in Southfield to check out the RX-350. Denise wants one of those rather than a RAV4. The 2013 RAV4 rode like a goat on our last trip. 5k miles total of jarring ride. Way too stiff springs in those. The RX-350 rides oh so plush on the bumpy roads around Southfield. We will try to get to the Fly Trap in 2 weeks when we are in Detroit again. Heading to Louisville KY in the morning. Stopped in Coralville for the night. Bandana's for dinner. Driving a Nissan Quest van this trip. Very comfortable but ugly vehicle. Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I like the quest. It's huge! How did you like the rx? I want to get a used GX for my wife but she keeps dodging the conversation. I love those things.
RX was damn nice. It was so refined feeling and no wierd bugs like you can find in a Toyota. Even the Lexus website functions with no odd issues like the Toyota site has. It is a completely different experience in a Lexus. More money but appears to be very well engineered. The Quest is sized like the Sienna which we prefer for road trips. I mustered 23 mpg with it from home to here. It goes down driving over 70 mph. The Sienna can get mid to upper 20's mpg driving the same way. Hertz didn't have any Swaggers in stock yesterday so I got the Quest. It drives almost as nice as the Swagger Wagon Are you on the road this week? Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I was in Chicago today and will be Friday. Maybe Thursday as well. I'm trying to not schedule anything since I don't have my car. I've had 2 Lexus's. a 1999 GS400 and a 2004 GS430. I think they are the best cars made. Reliable, quiet and classy. I wish I could justify getting one to commute but it would add about $350 to my monthly expense in just fuel.
