Our current economic calamity started with Clinton's deregulation of Wall Street and the mortgage industry (you can also thank bawney fwank for that) then we had the bush/obumbler bailouts and now we have obumbler spending the country into oblivion. One side is just as bad as the other. A slave to their own greed and to their business/lobbyist puppet masters.

You only see what your ideological glasses allow. The Clinton era deregulation was a Republican driven show, then made worse by Bush and his puppet masters. As for Obama, he has tried for the past 6 years to push legislation in congress for transparency related to derivatives trading but been blocked the the Republican House of Retards.

Haha and I'm the one with ideological glasses? Dodd/frank pushed deregulation because they believed that minorities and people with poor credit were not getting their "fair share" and being able to have the "American dream" of buying a home. Cue deregulation and predatory loans to uneducated consumers and we have the great housing bubble.

Bush tried many times to call attention to the impending doom but that fell on deaf democrat ears. The White House Warned Congress About Fannie Mae Freddie Mac 17 Times In 2008, Alone | Nice Deb

That much is obvious. Go back and check who sponsors regulatory law, and who sponsors transparency law. Remind yourself who sponsored and delivered the votes needed to pass the deregulatory laws that led up to the derivates fiaso and the great recession.

Or, if your memory can only manage a few months, follow along as congress tries to help Wall St. avoid the (Obama era) derivatives transparency reporting by using foreign markets. This is not a bad synopsis. Executive summary: It is easy to find bought democrats as well as ethical democrats, but forget about finding an ethical republican.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Your last sentence means you really are closed minded and naive enough to believe that one party is really any better than the other, or that they have your best interest in mind. The fact that you believe democrats are running around with halos over their heads doing nothing wrong shows the depth of your closed minded ignorance.

    Clinton’s no liberal hero - Salon.com

"As “Inside Job” director Charles Ferguson put it, “There was a kind of inflection point during the five-year period between 1997 and 2003 — the late Clinton and/or early Bush administration — when all the rules just went away. You went from a period, a regime, where people did have at least some concern about going to jail, to a point where everything is legal, and derivatives couldn’t be regulated at all and nobody went to jail for anything. And looking back I would say that this period definitely started under Clinton. You absolutely cannot blame this on George W. Bush.”

Republicans are good with the economy, taxes, security and defense. Democrats are good with social issues, helping the poor, senior rights, keeping entitlements, workers rights, the underdog and bloated government.

Republicans are good with protecting corporate interests, maintaining the status quo, protecting the fossil fuel based economy through the military, and using social issues like guns, women and abortion in election politics.

While you demonstrate an inability to read. As I said, Democrats split in voting, Republicans just about uniformly side with Wall St.

Let's take just one more example, after your stellar showing in missing the obvious with my previous post. The Deregulation you earlier ascribed to Clinton is the Gramm-Leach act. Sponsored by 3 republicans, enacted by overwhelming Republican support and a group of bought Democrats. Read the numbers and wise up (from Wikipedia):
In case your skill with arithmetic mirrors your reading, I'll help you: 94% of Republicans supported the legislation that was one of the pillars of Bush's Great Recession.

You should read your own article. Two thirds of congressional democrats supported glass. And more importantly the guy at the top of the pyramid, a democrat, signed it into law.

Now both sides are working in unison to strip more regulations from Wall Street.

As far as your prior post, if you honestly believe that democrats don't use hot button issues like guns, broads, and abortion to garner votes then you must be living under a rock.

As far as oil wars go, obumbler has been fighting them ever since he took office. His latest endeavor to "stabilize the (oil) region" has boots, arms, and money on the ground in Syria. But I guess you must have missed that one too.

    No, Genius.

2/3rds of *House* Democrats supported Gramm-Leach.
    44/45 Democratic Senators opposed it.

Like I said, two thirds of congressional democrats supported the bill and the guy with the pen and the power, a democrat, signed it into law. If that's all you got out of my previous post then there is no point in continuing this "debate" any further.

Hopefully your dosage calculations are on point, because this math is bogus. Where do you get 94% from when 2/3 of congressional dems and the democrat president supported the bill?

The economy was screaming when Clinton was President. Much different picture now.

Obama is a nice guy and I'm extremely happy he made history as the President. Frankly the next Pres needs to get our economy rolling again. Job #1

Listen to the financial news there is just no confidence out there. Europe is imploding, China slows, Japan on a multi decade hangover, the USA GDP growing 2% with fed stimulus and inflation at 1% that is very stagnate. Throw in the tax increase bias gov has well one step forward 2 steps back.

This is what we call slow torture.

If you speaking about the Tech Bubble when it collapsed it brought a few buying opportunities. Nothing is perfect and every Pres term has it's ups and downs, but full employment and yes if you saw that bubble you may have allocated yourself to a soft landing. We all have much to be grateful for. However our lack luster economy chugs along one must wonder when will this economy fire on all cylinders, have full employment, have economic prosperity for all, and deliver on it's promises.

Perhaps I'm listening to Kudlow to much in MSNBC Sirus XM on the commute home in the Prius. :)
