I sold my 2010 Prius V a few weeks ago and didn't have a replacement for it. After searching nonstop, I ended up picking up a 2012 Prius Five on Saturday. I had 27,000 worry free miles with my 2010 and sold it with 59K miles on the clock. I picked up the 2012 on Saturday morning in Kansas City with only 5300 miles on it and made the 9 hour (600 mile) drive back up to Milwaukee through Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on the changes between the 2010 and 2012. Good: -I feel that the new seats are more comfortable and definitely much softer -I absolutely love the LED daytime running lamps and all the new lights on the front of the car. I also love the new bumper -I love the dark gray instead of the tan I had (very personal) -It's nice having power seats -This one's back up camera doesn't beep! (I know I could have had this taken care of ) -Having 36 presets for the radio/sat stations Bad (mostly because I don't have the advanced tech package with the upgraded Navi) -I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd like my old navi back, I do not like the Tom Tom interface at all -I hate how small the Navi screen is and it looks cheap -I feel like it's noisier on the road but it might be because I got used to my Lincoln I had for a rental for a week between the Prii I got the car used, do I still get to use Toyota Care? Anyone know? I think I'm going to do an oil change every 5K for the first 25K and then move to 7500 miles. I'll just pay for the oil changes now and at 15 & 25K. I already have 6200 miles on it. They're going to rack up pretty quickly, I put 27K on in 8 months on the 2010. Hopefully I'll have tinted windows put on by the end of this week. I also want to get a yellow film for the fog lights. That'll probably be it. Some pictures: My 2010 Barcelona red: Picking up the 2012 at a Ford dealership in Raytown, MO: My first gas stop. SO NICE TO BE BACK TO A PRIUS after getting 22MPG for 1700 miles the week prior. Got pretty dirty on the way home One of these days I'll clean it all up and make it nice and shiny and take better photos. I'll probably do it after I get my title in the mail and get it registered. Hopefully today or tomorrow.
Because there is absolutely no way that I will go 10K between oil changes. As these manufacturers have extended their recommendations for oil change intervals, they've also added to their owners manual that it's normal to eat a quart of oil between oil change and to check your oil change frequently. No thanks. I do my oil changes every 7000-7500 miles.
I have my first Prius ever 2012 Prius 4 with solar pkg. with 1600 miles currently avg. 58mpg on dash. Very happy so far waiting to take a long road trip to see how it does
Awesome color What tires does it have? Toyo? Me thinking the road noise is the tires Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
Yep, but it's not the tires, it's the actual insulation of the cabin. Is not that big of a deal, luckily the JBL's sound great.
I talked to my salesman at Fox Lake Toyota and they have like 10 used Prius 2010 off lease and over 50 New Prius, V and C's they are dealing it seems people here in Illinois are getting used to $4.29 gas! I never will...........
Near a buck a gallon cheeper in Iowa for gas if you are close to the border Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I was in Orland Park this morning (southwest of Chicago) and it was $4.49 a gallon. I filled up for $3.79 this morning in Milwaukee. Last week I filled up in Ballwin, MO (suburb of St. Louis) and it was $3.26/gallon.
$3.71 on the NW side of Detroit right now. People still driving 80 mph around here in big tanks. Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
