Took a week trip with my best friend & wife of 41 years in a new 2013 Prius Four. We left the east coast of VA going to Charleston WV. ( 372 miles one way. ) 65 MPH going there I was getting about 57 MPG, BUT hit the WV mountains! Dropped to about 52 MPG. But was very please with the MPG. The car rode very nice & very little road noise. No problems getting up the mountains using the cruise control all the way. After awhile it dawned on me I could coast down the hills. Coming back I did 70 MPH & was getting about 51 MPG. In VA back to 55 MPG. To think I can get 50 MPG or more is great! This car ride is smooth & the JBL sound made the time pass by. This car for us is the perfect car. You have a nice ride, low noise & plenty of space. The seats are very comfortable. The wife enjoyed her nap while I drove the whole way.
52 mpg thru mountains is great! I'm currently driving a 2013 Chevy impala rental while the Prius is in the shop. In 4 days of light driving, I spent almost $30 in gas. It would take nearly 2 weeks for the Prius to consume that much gas!
We're headed to the Norfolk / VA Beach area for a wedding in July and I've warned the folks I lent the Prius to that I need it back by then. 50 MPG v. 21 MPG in the Ridgeline for a roadtrip is a no-brainer.
Yea when I drive my wife's 05 Civic I feel the same way. Once you get use to the Prius mileage it's hard to go back.
