And they said it couldn't be done?

I'm not that good uploading things!! This is my first thread that I started.
I have two 2011 Prius. I took the silver one away from my wife; so I had to buy her a gold one. I took the silver one and put Hidden Hitch # 60263, with wiring for brakes on it (about $205.00 ). I then had to beef up the rear end by adding Firestone air springs # F-4136 ($85.00 a pair), with 35 to 40 psi added . Had to buy a brake controller at Auto Zone (for about $105). My trailer is a 16 ' Midget RV, GVWR at 1700 lbs, with GAWR at 2200 lbs. I'm about at 1900 lbs in trailer. My MPG full tank to full tank was 25.5 MPG, pulling the trailer. But I did make a 20 mile trip without the trailer; which would drop my MPG to about 23 to 23.5 ? range, after a total round trip of about 210 miles, with about 800 lbs in the Prius. Now that is a load? The Prius worked very hard on long hills. I also have a 1500 inverter hooked up to the battery.:) ...If you like this info... Press Like. ;)

...What do you pull with your Prius?

E-TRAILER.COM has them for $ 99.67 as of June 15, 2013...Mine had 50 lbs in them, which is about 10 lbs too much. It takes just a little air to pump them up!! I'm going to say 2 1/2" to 3 " max. It will fit 2010 Prius.

    WOW!

I'm OK with pushing the envelope and I used to pull my boat (3000+ lbs loaded) with subaru (but with trailer brakes, mind you), but this is a bit extreme.

    Reminds me this:

Thanks so much, I will order one today, by the way I look at, it is not to do it by myself, did you do it by yourself or you let the shop do it for you? how hard to do it? how long does it take to completed? do you think better to let the shop do it for safety?

Thanks so much, I will let the shop do it for me for a piece of mind.

    Bisco

maybe pull the trailer, which I will not do that like Engerysave, but I do carry Stoway box which is 16 cubic feet and it really put the back the car LOW, that why I need it, by the way, why not stress out HSD? saving gas and testing the new thing :)

HSD might be stress on long hills, high speeds..... time will tell.....avg driving now 48 to 52 MPG with about 34,100 miles on it; which is no change on my MPG before my test. If you like any of my info, press like !!

I think the key is to not put too much stress on HSD at one time. Long hill ....take a running start, drive slower or just take another route with less hills. HSD is more tougher than what people think.

This sounds like a great way to destroy your car. Keep us updated
Toyota goes out of their way to recommend that you don't even use a bike carrier with your car, and here we are, towing 1600lb
