I love the warmer weather. I work 15 miles away from home, so I thought I was just out of range with this car. That was until I gave it a shot yesterday. I went 15 miles with 2 miles to spare. Temp 65 degrees. Charged up at work and went home with 1 mile to spare. No gas used....it is 4.09 a gallon here. I went the speed limit on the roads and it took 35 minutes to get to work. I am averaging 320 miles per gallon since my fillup on may 3rd. I love this car....

Wow that's insane. The most I get is about 9.5. You must be very light on the pedal? Flat road. No stops etc,

Definitely soft on the pedal, about 5 or 6 stop lights and mostly flat roads. FYI my starting EV reads 14.6 miles.

    That warmth is the key.

Mine drops to 9 in the dead of winter in Minnesota.

This was my best last summer...

It most definitely fluctuates with the temperature.

15 miles to work in 35 min is an average speed of 2.3 25 mph. Must be really long red lights.

Check your math again. At a constant speed it would about 25-26 mph. The most efficient EV speed for cars is typically 15-20 mph so he's actually driving a little too fast. :)

At an ideal speed you might hope to get close to doubling the EPA estimated EV range. So if someone had ideal conditions they might hope to get 20-22 miles from a Plugin Prius.

note, the key thing: averaging 320 mpg not 999mpg which explains the 17 miles EV. The best I got last summer was 15.3 miles EV when ICE kicked in at 15.3 miles. :D And that's when I was going about 15 mph

Just won't happen around here, but when I shut down and the read-out says I got anywhere from 100 to 199 mpg for my commute, I'm satisfied.

This year, May 18, 2013. One of the few warm days 80+ degrees f we have had this year. When I leave my house I have to go 300 feet down to the river bottoms and 300 feet back up and then the reverse going home. This was a round trip all EV best I have ever done! :D

Hmmm...temp in CT is in 80s, 90s and my starting EV has gone down to 10.2 from 11.7 in dead of winter. Any guess why since warm weather seems to be pushing everyones EV miles up? Just hit 5k miles. Congrats to you guys pushing 15+

Great EV range! I made it a little over 17 last week - must be the methane in our Wisconsin air!

I'm in ct too and only hitting 11 max EV estimate. I can get about 12 though. Check to see if your fan is on. That takes a mile even if AC is off.

Just though I would mention with about 85-90 degrees today I was given a 11 mile range estimate. However, I drove 9.5 miles and had 3 miles left. I guesstimate even though I only had an initial 11 range estimate, I could have went about 13.5 miles. The point is don't stress the estimated EV range.
