They're probably just playing a horrible joke on everyone and laughing at us when we are confused as to how it can be a Prius. Some engineers stuck a Yaris inside a Prius body and thought it would be funny to drive around like it was the newest and greatest. At least I hope so...

They wouldn't put the final dashboard in a test vehicle this early for prying eyes. Even if it was ready to go, Toyota would be idiots to include the actual dashboard in a test car that anyone could look into and take photos of through the side windows. The dashboard pictured is from a Lexus CT200, probably only to provide basic test functionality. But like some others have mentioned, I too want that big red kill switch! If my 2015 doesn't come with one of those, I'm gonna be adding one myself.

Not sure why the ct 200h instrument cluster puzzles some of us here. This test mule is for Prius, Prius v & ct 200h, they will have the same stuff.

Good point! - and maybe the best reason the CT200 dash is being used for that test car(s).

The more I read and think about the pictures that are showing up on this website and others, are pictures of the shrouded 2014. Naturally, none of us know if the 2014 will be the often spoken of and awaited "4th generation" or not. After this much hype and anticipation, Toyota will need to do something rather special for 2014, else their sales will be dismal with buyers awaiting the 2015.

As far as I can tell, the rims are still 15" and the tires are still the same size.

Does anyone has a close up pic of the tire?

If the Gen IV follows suit with the Gen II and Gen III, it'll be a MY 2016 not a MY 2015 as people keep saying. If it comes out early like the Gen III did, it could be released early in 2015 as a MY 2016. The 2010 came out May/June 2009 as a 2010.

Also, the pics floating around are of such an early mix and match put together test mule... It's simply too early to gather much from it IMO.

Looks to be the same as the Gen 3 - Bridgestone Ecopia EP20 all-seasons. I have that on my 2010 right now.

My salesguy, a manager at Toyota Sunnyvale stated there will be no changes for the 2014 Prius Two. That's what he told me.

I don't think there will be any changes for any liftback Prius trims for '14 model year. They are working on the 4th gen.

If you look at the Gen II as past history, the 2012-2015 will probably remain the same. Maybe small package changes etc but no major body changes etc. Like they did in 13' with the persona, maybe they'll consider more persona type editions for 14' and 15' until the Gen IV comes out in, my guess, 2016 looking at the Gen II running for 6 model years.

Nah, their sales won't be dismal with most awaiting. Only the enthusiastic even think about a 4th generation Prius coming and many people won't touch a first year model, including myself. If I had planned to wait until at least third model year (of 3rd gen), I'd have had the choice to get power seat, but, I didn't. Still think T ought to have put that out in 2010, but it was what it was.

That's my guess, 2016 model year for 4th gen, however, didn't Toyota say they lost a bit of time in considering Li-Ion (or battery tech) when developing the 3rd gen, and that slowed things down a bit?

You seem pretty confident is dismissing any sales impact on the 2014. And, you may be right..... but I don't think so.

I am just not sure that Toyota can risk, as the Sunnyvale Dealer suggester, making "no changes for 2014." As pointed out elsewhere on this thread, several (if not many) manufacturers are bringing out very attractive (visually as well as technically) vehicles that are closing the fuel efficiency gap that was heretofore "owned" by the Prius. Toyota may not have the new Hybrid System and ICE ready by 2014, but they need to have something for salesmen to talk about, either lower drag, or a new suspension system, or a new interior, or better battery chemistry ..... something. A redesigned tail light isn't going to be sufficient.

The automobile buyer is not that 'loyal' to any badge. If there is a better (mouse trap), than the "same-old; same-old," then that is where they will go. It has been said that more former Prius owners purchased Volt's than any other brand.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out. I personally, really like my 2010 Prius. But I will be in the market for an upgrade (but not if there are "no changes in the 2014.") I could wait for the 2015 .... but not the 2016.
