After driving 8 months+ on my 2012 Prius Five with Advanced package which has LED headlights.
I noticed how annoyingly SHORT the headlight beam distance is compared to normal halogen or even HID headlights that I have on my other cars.

Anyone else with OEM LED headlights feel the same way?

    What are my options?
    1. Is there a way to change my LED light bulbs?
    2. Convert over to HID headlights?

    thx

Have you checked the aim? There's a thread that said ppl who have adjusted the aim have seen an improvement. Seems they're aimed low out of the factory.

The forward beam is much stronger than the halogens or aftermarket HIDs in the halogen housing. Try raising your cutoff a bit and see if that helps.

    Thanks for the reply!
I found that on back of headlight there is upside down bottlecap like device. CC for higher, CCW for lower.
I will try it out tomorrow since its raining tonight.

Make sure to park about 25' from a wall and shine your headlights on it so you can get them level while you make adjustments. These lights as well as HIDs have a sharp cutoff line and misaligned headlights look goofy. :)

This is a properly aligned cutoff.

The lowering springs will make your situation worse indeed. Unfortunately you can only aim them so high before you start blinding oncoming traffic. It's all about the angle. :)

I definitely had to re-aim my '10 Prius headlights. When I took it to the dealer to have them adjusted they told me it was aimed properly... Sigh. A 10mm socket wrench and a wall fixed my low aimed headlights :)

    I think it's an 8mm socket. ;)

A number of members have re adjusted/re aimed their LED headlights including myself. Like what you have noticed, it was too low for my liking. Adjust it and you will be very happy -won't blind incoming drivers. I did mine at 9 ft. from the wall and raised the top cut off beam to an inch. Mark the top cut off pattern for both headlights prior to adjustment by using a blue or black tape and add an inch marking it with another blue or black tape. Adjust headlight. Follow the thread for headlight adjustment.
