No point. Stock tires are warrantied by the tire manufacturer, not Toyota, and only tire defects are covered.

I think you missed my point on "plausible deniability." It may amount to nothing but I wouldn't put it past a dealer to say my struts or axle failed because I ran my tires at higher PSI than Toyota spec.

Read up on the Magnuson-Moss Act. They'd have to prove it and the burden is on them. Otherwise, they can just as easily say that the HIDs you temporarily put in caused some major electrical failure and refuse to cover it.

Yup, they could. That's why I removed them instead of replacing the one ballast. There are laws to stop people from doing illegal things. It doesn't mean they stop. I can go through the hassle to defend my rights or I can conform. For the small mpg to $ savings, I choose the latter.

I do not disagree with you that in all likelihood, I am completely covered.

I ordered a pumpkin spice milkshake at Jack in the Box one time. The cashier took my money but a few minutes later, the manager came and said they never got the pumpkin spice shipment. Would I like another flavor? Sure, I'll take chocolate.

But I thought about and I was really disappointed they ran out and didn't tell me during the order process especially since they never sold the product at all. I only ordered it because it was new. I used to work at McDonalds and I would comp an apple pie if I made mistakes on orders. I also remembered the pumpkin spice costs 10 cents more. Where's my refund? On principle, I decided to talk to the manager about it. She refused to believe me. I, eventually, got my 10 cents along with some you're-a-cheapskate eye rolling from the staff. That was the worst ROI on my investment ever. I'll stand my ground if I have to but I know it's a waste of my time.

Sorry about the digress. Just thinking about arguing principles.

Where do you get the bumper plugs for the holes left from stock mounting? I might have to do this one if I can tastefully cover the holes.

You might get a fix-it ticket if a cop spots the zip ties. Most states want a secure semi-permanent license plate mounting.

Take off the plate bracket and make sure you only need two plugs. Mine had four ugly holes and someone here posted a picture of six in his bumper.

I did this mod after reading this thread a while back. My license plate is partly over the painted part of the bumper, and largely hooked via its bottom arms into the grill. The car looks much better - a li'l meaner actually.

To plug the old bumper holes I went to the local old-fashioned hardware store, got two sizes of black nylon plugs x 2, messed around until i 'em into every hole, and then took my Toyota Sea Foam Green paint stick and painted the nylon plug heads. The next day, I painted them again. You really have to look for the plugs to see them now.

I might get around to posting a picture tomorrow, as I am about to block my grill for the Winter.

For my 2010, here was what I went with for a while. I was trying to do the same thing I did with my former S2000. I thought this looked better on the Honda. Thinking of going back to it :)

Or if you have a license plate screw covers, simply shoot them with white spray paint. I had a set of chrome was laying around. Though it's not an exact match, they are so small in area, it doesn't bother me. I just couldn't justify paying for "bumper plug's". Oh and mines are just primer white color!

For $5.00 and 4-5 hours of your time, you can black out your headlights:

You can make your own bumper plugs for less than $10.00 using nylon plugs (sink section of Lowes, < $1.00 each) and Toyota touch-up paint bottle ($8.00).

Well, after almost a year, I have plenty of cheap mods (less than $100) that I have installed to my car:

    1. Taking off cap of the wheel, installed Homedepot taps and black paint (the one for appliances), and cut some nice symbols on white reflect tape. (less than $10) (pictures without cleaning the wheels)

    2. Using silver or aluminum color paint spray, I painted direction bulbs so that I don't see the orange reflection.
(Already had the paint can so no cost)

    3. Strip leds that are turned on with the DRL or headlights, or blinked off when direction lights are blinking, ($15 for the led strips plus $15 for relays I had to buy at autozone)

    4. Reverse ultrasonic sensors for the plate (I wanted to avoid to drill holes on my fender) $30
    [IMG]
    5. lower grille block with insulation foam: $2.50
    [IMG]
    6. Interior led lights, back plate light, and parking lights leds. ($20)

    7. Solar controller to use the solar cell to charge the secondary battery. $9.5
    [IMG]

    8. Opti coat 2.0... ( $30 for Meguiar Clay bar plus $70 for the Opticoat)

    9. Paint film protector for hood, mirrors, headlights, fender and door handles. ($100)

    10. Template for backup lines for the screen (free)

Ebay, new ones can cost up to 50 like this one:
But I bought it used. It is very simple to install, the difficult task is to route the wire by the door into one of the sides, it is connected to the reverse light wires.
