I just reread the article, free maintenance as well. So everything needed to operate the vehicle is included with the $259 price tag except misc lease fees, TTL, liability insurance, installation costs for 240v charger, and cost of electricity usage . I wonder how long this offer lasts.

 

A car that can not reach Nashville TN from Huntsville, AL has no appeal to me.

Definitely not for certain people (I can't yet bc of infrastructure issues), but compared to other EV vehicles, this lease offer is great. Hopefully other manufacturers would follow suit, but I doubt it. If we had a practical place to charge it, I would get one for my wife.

its a great lease offer... i would get it right away if i was in US most likely.

its not really good for Honda or manufacturers, shows soft market for EVs so they basically have to give them away.

 

Just to be clear, collision insurance is included. One needs to still carry liability (and whatever else). As for "charger included", let's get the terminology correct. With J1772 L1 and L2 charging, the charger is inside the car. The charging station and/or charging cord set (cable w/brick and J1772 handle) are both EVSEs (electric vehicle supply equipment). For this offer, one has to pay for installation.

Yes, this makes the Fit EV a lot more attractive than before and much more competitive. The Rav4 EV leasing deals are pretty lousy.

Yeah, the Rav4 EV is a lot faster, brakes much better and has a lot more range (see bottom of Testing Electric Vehicles in the Real World). I don't really like how they conducted the test where they added the "DTE" (aka GOM aka guess-o-meter) values to the driven distance but yeah, Rav4 EV on an extended charge can do 130 miles on a charge even w/some high-speed highway driving.

 

For me the unlimited miles for the price with no down is what makes it attractive. The collision ins and free charger is just a bonus.

 

If anyone is in the Central New York area, Honda City just got one, and is still on the lot. I took it for a quick test drive, took some pics and video.

Honda made this a really hot deal. Not as refined as the Nissan LEAF, but at that price, with unlimited mileage, there isn't much to complain about.

 

wiki says it'll L2 charge in 3 hours - meaning it too (like the new Leaf's) will charge at over 6kW. Very nice. The deal breaker for many is that it doesn't do DC QC. You get spoiled, once you watch that bad boy run @ 50kW's for the first few moments. Their lithium chemestry looks to be much improved.

Too bad Honda only plans to release the Fit EV in a hand full of states (what ... something around 6 or 8? ) . . . . & IIRC, they're only doing a run of somewhere around 1,100 units. That doesn't sound like too big of a committment. Maybe Honda is only testing the waters.

if this was offered in Ireland I would have a second thought, my current prius costs me more than that and my daily commute would accept 82 mile range...
