If it matters, mine's Tsutsumi #1.

Tsutsumi is the same one that builds the Camry AFAIK.

What an idiot. The Nissan Leaf is not taxi material. Nuff said...

Ok, I'll say more,,, it's the range, and the space, and the cost. But mostly the range.

I drive 150-200 per day here in Denver, then my tandem partner does another 100-150 in the following shift. That's 250-350 per 24 hour day.

Regarding space, that Leaf is worth a laugh. While the 3rd gen Prius is close to a Crown Victoria, for luggage and passenger area.

From Wikipedia: Nissan Leaf - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    2011/2012 model year
The United States Environmental Protection Agency official range is 117 km (73 mi), much less than the 160 kilometres (100 mi) promised by Nissan.[50][51][52][53] The Federal Trade Commission, which is supposed to label all alternative-fuel vehicles, disagrees with the EPA rating, and considers that the correct range is between 96 to 110 miles (154 to 180 km). Although the FTC does not conduct its own tests as EPA does, it relies on a standard set by SAE International and the results reported by automakers.[54] The Leaf has a range of 175 km (109 mi) on the New European Driving Cycle.[55]

agreed that it wont work in all circumstances or even most circumstances. I all these cases an extensive quick charge network is indispensable. Rudd was one of the member of the LEAF marketing focus group that Darrel and I were a part of and he says it was not really that difficult to manage. but 90% of their business was scheduled rides so preparation was easy to do and trips were well within the range of the LEAF even during the worst of winters in in Amsterdam where he is operating, the Winter can get pretty bad

Hmmm across Europe eh? I think not. Maybe one or two supported cities but even at $8 a gallon, the Leaf is NOT viable as a taxi. It can not and will not work without some financial support. The Prius is only just viable, or was until Toyota put the cost up so that the base version is only £100 less than the base version of the Lexus CT200h.

Quoted elsewhere in here, somewhere. No longer use the car as a cab but the inverter cost £250 (inc 20% vat) for the labour costs and Toyota paid for the parts. Not bad considering I was 12,000 miles (or so) out of warranty.

Still not the most reliable car I have ever owned. Not impressed. See many threads on whether Toyota use lower cost parts on the European versions as they seem to be having failures that are just not reported on this forum. But that's another story.

    Great news for me today!

I got a sponsor! Denver has an amazing auto repair shop that has agreed to allow me to advertise for them in return for free mantainance and discounted possibly repairs. This is the best!

Can I name them here? Or is that against the rules?

I'm happy that you are happy.

However, paying for an advert does not make a company any better. Despite what you may think from TV.

But you can't beat free servicing :)

My local taxi authority won't allow advertising on the vehicle which was a shame. If they had, I was offered a FREE Prius so long as I carried a dealers name on the back and sides. Makes sense for the company. Advertising for 5 years on one of their cars in town all the time is definitely worth £20k.

The down side of advertising a company is that if they're a bad company, people will assume you also reflect that.

I've known one of their mechanics for 13 years. He serviced my Subaru, then our dodge intrepid, sold his business, and now works for them. Always a solid mechanics, trustworthy, fair and did good work.

I truly am proud to be in league with them.

I wish it was a new Prius. But I brought that to the table. They will just be covering my mantainence, and service as they can.

Btw this shop services hybrids almost exclusively, focusing on battery salvage, repair, and replacement. @$1400 installed. Fleets, taxis, and out of warranty hybrids.
