My wife's 2012 Prius C has all of a sudden decided to display its speed in Kilometers Per Hour instead of Miles Per Hour. I cannot find any reference to changing it back in the owners manual. I spent an hour messing around with various settings but there is absolutely no way that I can find to change it back. Any help would be appreciated, I dont want to spend all day taking it back to the dealership for a warranty repair if there is a simple way to fix it myself. Thanks.
LOL easy solve... On your steering wheel, look for the TRIP button and just hold that down for 2 second. It will switch back to MPH. You can switch it back to Kilometers if you hold it down another 2 sec vice versa.
Thank you. I was going nuts. Sometimes its the simplest solutions that are the hardest to figure out.....
This has happened to a ton of people... if you want to feel better about yourself just do a quick search on the subject and you'll find all the stories.
You could just keep it in KPH and fool yourself into thinking you are going vroom vroom! I drive in KPH all the time, even in the states. Just easier to relate real world speed to numbers for me. Of course keeping up with math skills converting the mph limit signs to kph limits in my head is partial entertainment for longer drives.
Can you change the units of the gas mileage between MPG, L/100Km and km/L as well? I haven't figured out a way.
I can`t comment on the C specifically, but on all the liftback models, no. The MFD does the calculation and it is either programmed to give you MPG and Fahrenheit temperatures OR L/100km and Celcius. No way to switch between them that anyone has found. But swapping a MFD from another region does change the readout.
I want to say that I remember seeing this... but I think I saw it on the first day of ownership... so who knows. I'll check tonight, unless someone beats me to it.
This has been answered, but they are looking for the MPG to l/km or some such... plus... our car doesn't have this button.
Checked this on my way home. There is an option to change from Miles to KM, but it only applies to the maps... unfortunately... I'm not sure why this wouldn't be an option. It's barely a line of code extra.
Thanks. Yeah, they should really open source the damn thing. And why not put a Nexus 7 in instead of entune? I plan to buy a BT OBDII and mount a Nexus 7 somehow.
Those instructions are probably specific to the 'c', not your PiP. I don't have a PiP, but suspect it is more similar to my Liftback. Is there a cluster of three buttons just to the right of the steering wheel, to adjust the clock and speedometer? One of them should have a Km/miles marking, press it.
What fuzzy said. If you think about it, a dedicated button is virtually necessity: you do NOT want to be wandering around in menus looking to switch something that fundamental.
