Both the nav and entune suck on my plug in Prius so bad that I have officially decided to stop using it in favor of waze. I just ordered a cd slot cell phone mount and will just use my cell phone.

The car nav is dumb. Inaccurate. And buggy. What a waste. So glad I did not pay extra for it and that it was a standard feature

Oh its included in the price. I have mixed feeling right now. Going from a Garmin to this is NAV is a learning curve.
I keep the Garmin as a back up. As a new owner I haven't used it much, so I have to withhold judgment until a trip to WVA that is planned in a few weeks.

:)Throwing out the NAV and Entune with the bath water? I use my Prius for daily commuting and have limited use of the GPS and Entune features. Regardless, the factory Nav for me, is more than a GPS. It's a media and vehicle information interface which I use every time I drive the car. The bigger, the better. I considered a Prius 5, but wouldn't take one without the ATP, just for the 7" display. That's why I opted for the Plug In Advance. Factoring in the additional options on the Advance.

And the sad part is, Waze has some dangerous accuracy issues as well, yet it's better than Toyota's system, that should tell you something.

I use Waze for traffic info, and Google Maps for directions myself. I stopped using Entunes/NAV myself long time ago. It's outdated, and at least in the base model, mostly useless IMO.

If you have a phone or a tablet why use a nav. I plot all trips on my phone and simply use my phone or tablet for both in car entertainment and nav.

Uhhhh, sorry to say this, but you did pay for it. We all did. Just like we all paid for first two years' of service. It's built into the price. The thing doesn't even let me use it while in motion. Toyota doesn't think there will ever be a passenger in the front seat. I tried using voice commands and when the lady said "Canceled" for the umpteenth time, my wife whipped out her iPhone. Utterly useless piece of trash is our Nav system. It also doesn't auto zoom based on speed. Shows me the whole Bay Area while I am driving 25 mph in my neighborhood. Wish Toyota could've knocked $1000 off the price and given me the base stereo. Even the backup camera is useless.

While the Nav system in the Base model may be crap, the one in the Advanced gets much better reviews.

I love the nav system in my plug-in advanced. It's been accurate and have had no issues with it yet. Hoping it stays that way.

I know I'm in the minority; but I really like my entune and nav (base model). Maybe it's expectations -- I wasn't expecting nav in the base model at all. I've never had a car with anything but base stereo, and really love all the features. I use the nav a lot and it's gotten me to my destinations. I don't really use any of the other apps. My only complaint is the stuff disabled while in motion; which I will likely mod.

Not sure the Nav + stereo is worth $1k. The key feature is the data on the operation of the vehicle. I think the apps available are very good and you have access to all your other media and data.

Haha. That's the point of my reply. I don't think it worth $1000 or whatever the cost is.

The Nav in my Advanced is right on all the time. I leave my Garmin home. Stereo is super. Buy cheap get cheap buy good get good.

I stopped using the built-in NAV as a primary GPS when it wanted me to make a left into a one way street that would have had me going in the wrong direction!

I use my Garmin now- with the Toyota NAV as a backup for map (no guidance) only.

After years of reading posts about the "crapiness" of Toyota's NAV system, that figured really high in my decision to go "cheap" and get a Prius 2.

I would of liked (loved) a sunroof and the solar ventilation system...but none of the other upgrades that I would need to pay for to get that upgrade, which in of itself is very expensive seemed worth it to me.

I'm simply using my Garmin Nuvi...several years old...Lifetime maps...mounted on a cupholder mount. And I'm happy with it.

This really isn't a new issue, again after years of hearing the general disappointment in Toyota's NAV system I think it's clear Toyota needs to improve the offering significantly.

What happened to the day when car head units came in standard sizes and could be upgraded for a reasonable price? It would be really nice for us PIP base owners to just pull the navigation unit out and only have to spend a few hundred buck for a quality after-market replacement.

Well, in fairness to Toyota- one of my co-workers says the NAV in his 2012 BMW sucks, and another with a 2011 Yukon Denali says it's NAV sucks too. Both cost at least 2x what the Prius costs, so we shouldn't fee so bad seeing what high end auto owners are getting from the manufactures.

The issue I have with it is that is is super slow. I can go to my google maps app and type the business and click start and I'm done. It works through Bluetooth so I tend to use google maps a lot. Going to check out Waze though.
