Saw a White one yesterday, w/ the 21's, that's the 85P right? Man that thing has an aura about it.

 

NC is pushing a ban on them unless they start selling through dealerships. I understand the whole jobs lost if we all ordered from the manufacturer but if Tesla wants to sell straight to the public I think they ought to be let to. Cost is out of my range as is much less add a middleman. I do like them though, will have one if wife's lotto ticket is a winner...lol.

 

^ The legislator who pushed that bill in NC received $8,000 in political contributions (the max allowed) from the NC Auto Dealers Association, according to another post I read recently.

 

How sad. If it passes it will be another day in court, an army of lawyers, and in the end the Tesla will be sold in NC.

 

I haven't confirmed that yet, but, really, how could something like that not have a basis in fact.

I wonder if Tesla has a car in the works that will be in the 30-40k range. Probably not.

 

Of course the RavEV4 is sold at a loss only in CA. Capped at 2500 units or so.

Tesla is working on a cheaper car but they certainly haven't met their price target with the Model S ($50k).

The GenIII as it is called is supposed to be $30k but will likely transact closer to $50k just as the Model S transacts closer to $80k instead of $50k.

I always love NC bashing. The press based in NY and DC likes to bash NC - I really think they are just jealous of our weather. Dealer networks all over the country are pushing court cases and legislatures to block Tesla (NC is not the first). NC has towns that rely on their dealers as a tax base and employment generator. It is no surprise that rural legislators from these areas are scared of Tesla's model. If the law passes, it will likely be ignored. Does anyone think this will stand up against the interstate commerce law?

 

The base level Model S, after rebate, came in at $49,900.
Very few people ordered one so Tesla discontinued it. Base price now, with the rebate, is $62,500 not $80,000.
I expect the base price of third gen to be 35k (with rebate).

NC is trying to go much further with their laws than anyone else has, even Texas.
They even are making it illegal for Tesla corporate headquarters to email or even call by phone customer with sales or price information (even if the customer asks).
If NC wants to become a communist state and allow the government to dictate business models, just leave the Union and get annexed by Cuba.
The politicians are bought and paid for by the dealers association and making the state a laughing stock. I am sorry if it is reflecting poorly on the good people of NC.

 

They are, according to their master plan the will use the money from the Model S to invest in more manufacturing capacity. They plan to have a third generation sedan available around 2017 with a base price around 30,000.
