Great job on just your second tank of your new Prius. I live in Scottsdale as well and my commute is similar to yours (14.5 mi) except no rush hour. If you fill up the same each time to the first click you should be okay using Codyroo's 10X HSI + ~10.5g method. "I really don't think I'll ever make the 700 mile club" I use to think the same way. This is only your second tank. I'm sure you will be able to break 700 mile tank. You were not too far off on this tank. On my first 700 mile tank my dash read 68.5 mpg (actual 64.6 mpg).
604.6 miles, 11.18 gallons, 54.1 calculated, 57.2 displayed 38 mph avg The tank was a lot of highway, 55-65 mph typically.
I am almost there at 575miles on my last tank.... Give me two more weekly F8L because I want to be part of the 600 mile club bad ...lol
So close too! I just fueled up this morning at 562 miles and it only took 9.4 gallons...oh well, got my best verified gas mileage ever at 59.3. My car said I was getting 62.2 but if it was Pinocchio, the nose would be incredibly long. ;-) Hope to be part of the club by next weekend!
Actual vs displayed was about 5% off which is typical. If you had gone the extra 38 miles it would have only been a little over 10 gallons to fill (.64 gallons more). Not even close to running out of gas. I hope you can get another tank in to get into the club before you have to use the A/C too much in GA. It was about this time last year that I got into the 600 mile club up here on Long Island. Weather has been a little cooler this year, but still may make a 600 mile tank. Running at about 60.9 mpg on the display!
Yeah...I was not happy filling it up this morning knowing that I could have easily hit the 600 mark and not had to walk for gas! I hope that the temperatures continue to be a lot more mild. If not, I may just have to sacrifice the A/C for better gas mileage.
I'm an official member! This is my second tank on my 2012 prius III. 600.1 miles to the tank, filled up with 10.282 gal, 61.4 mpg displayed, and 58.4 calculated. I was driving about 40 miles after 0 displayed. I think I could of squeezed out another 60 miles but the wife was getting upset and I didn't want to push it so much this first time. I'm running stock wheels/tires and weather ranged from 60-90 degs in Los Angeles. I drive with a combination of A/C and windows rolled down with basic suggested prius driving techniques. I also want to mention that I carry about an extra 50-60lbs in my trunk for work stuff.
Congrats! You are member #35! My suggestion, please don't do the next attempt with your wife in the car. It's unsafe in so many ways. LOL
Yeah...I got pretty upset with my Dad when he wanted to push the limits on the tank for his C-Max and my Prius. I can run a Marathon any day of the week, but there is no way this girl is going to push a car to a gas station or walk to one. So, I can empathize a little with your wife. Just don't let her drive the Prius. My other half always ruins my gas mileage, even when the car he drives is a hybrid Escape. Congratulations on hitting the 600 mark so quickly!
I am working on it!!! I hope to get there in a week..... Once I do You will be the first to know...lol....Tooo EXCITED!!!
If your displayed MPG is reading 60 mpg or better, you'll make it easily (although the last pip will be flashing).
F8L, Just some memories from the past, remember your 2005 Prius? I had one also, I had to prove to the guy's at coffee that they could get better mileage than what they were getting. Photo from September, 2009. I hope you enjoy!
I will be on this list once I can try again! would have easily had it on my second tank if it was not for this roadtrip I am taking in a few days. (could still get it on this tank but would require wasting a lot of gas driving around aimlessly...that seems silly)
It is reading 62.1 but it is the same as last tank but I only used 9.8 gallons with 575miles so I am going to go about 30 to 40 miles after in says 0 miles... wish me luck guys....only 150miles to go...lol...worried about the up coming rain damn Chicago weather...
I would expect that if you had a displayed of 62.1 mpg, that you would use 10.5 gallons at 621 miles = 59.1 MPG. I would have expected that at 575 miles you would have filled up with 9.72 gallons. In looking at your reported values, I'd say that you line up nicely with my experiences. Your displayed MPG * 10 = miles driven using 10.5 gallons of gasoline (thus having 1.4 gallons of reserve).
