Navigation update

    Does anybody know if there was an update for Entune?
    My version is 2.0.1, I believe, the one that lost the ability to say which side of the road the destination was on.
    I wonder if this is going to be fixed (if it hasn't already been).

    Also, is there a 2013 navigation update? The GPS occasionally takes me to the streets that no longer exist.
    Just recently it told me to make a turn at some corner but in a reality I ended up inside of someone's property.
    Besides, having the updated list of POI's wouldn't hurt at all.
    While Bing works, it does not always find the closest POI's.
    Example.
    Was searching for Shoprite around my location.
    The closest ones Bing had found were about 50 miles away.
    Repeated the same search but this time I typed up the town I was in. Didn't matter, still the same results.
    The GPS itself had the info about a Shoprite location some 20-25 miles away. Eventually found a location really close that wasn't listed in POI.

    On the thread above I've asked the OP for more info. You could try calling your dealer to see if they know anything about it.

    I called Toyota. They have confirmed that 2.2 was released and that it has addressed my main problem (ie, the destination side being fixed).
    However, they at this moment only distribute it to the dealerships. Called my local one, they said they would try to give me an answer tomorrow morning.

    I email entune and said the update to 2.2.0 is only available to dealership, the installation procedure for the dealership is the same as just plugging into USB and hit update, I don't know why they don't sent it.

    On another note, If you are under warranty, there is a new update map available to the Nav along with 2.2.0 update which you can go to the dealer to do, but you have to make sure they have both update available since they have to get the USB stick from Toyota.

    Had to call 3 or 4 dealerships. No one has had any idea about it but all wanted to charge me.
    Finally I got pushy and made the guy check the TSB. Then his response was "Looks like we are going to have to provide it to you under the warranty repair".
    So, I have an appointment tomorrow. Does not mean they have the update. They are saying that they will need to check it out, and if they won't have it by tomorrow they will order it for me.

    Will let you all know how it went.

    Wow, that's kind bad, I guess all those dealer don't bother to read the TSB Toyota posted.

    Got Entune updated!
    I ended up going to the service center, lucky there is one just 7 miles away.
    They had the USB and did the update for me.
    I can confirm that the problem with the destination side was fixed.
    Which bring another question: how can I find out which version of NAV I have?
    I asked the guy at the service center show it to me but he wasn't able to locate it.

    I have received the explanation why the USB stick was no longer being sent to the customers.
    The reason is simple. Just before running the last portion of the update the screen returns to normal for a few seconds. Some people believed that this was it and removed the stick from the USB port therefore breaking their navigation system. Toyota has had to pick up the bill and replace broken units free of charge. The didn't bother to fix the update routine (it does the same thing during the 2.2.0 patch) and decided that now customers should come over instead.

    My dealer had no clue and I just bought this care a few weeks ago. He told me that when there are updates out we have to pay for them. My car is still under warranty so we are escalating this to management.

    Sorry, guys, it is getting confusing....No charge for what? Navigation or entune? Entune is definitely free, would love to hear the same about the maps.

    I stopped by the dealer this afternoon - the service writer had no idea about the TSB but let me talk to one of the techs, and he said he has the USB stick for the update. I left the car with them, will report back after I pick it up on Saturday morning.

    Every two years they send out an update for the maps for the GPS, this they charge you for. But a TBS which is a software fix falls under warranty. This update we have been talking about it just that a software update to fix some bugs . Problem is most of the dealers weren't aware of the issue. Now my dealer is and I was told there was no charge for this update. Sorry if we confused you.

    I am so happy it is over. I am a new driver, and going places without knowing the side of the street was a bit of a challenge for me. Ironically it did make me a better driver, lol.
