What do you dislike about your Plug-in Prius?

    Not sure what you don't understand about this; I said, "
    2. Charge port should be on driver's side. Swap it with the gas input or put it near the front left wheel well, but it's too easy to forget to plug it in when I park my car."

    I exit my car and go into my house; my house door is on the driver's side. When I'm in a hurry, I don't think about plugging in the car--however, if the charging cable were lying right there by my front left wheel well (which is where the charge port was on the prototypes), I'd see the wire and it would remind me to plug it in.

    I'm sure it was totally a cost decision; I'm hoping that future Priuses (Prii?) will have the charge port on the left side of the car rather than the right. My first choice would be just behind the left front wheel well.

    So you remember to get in the car on the left side because that's where the steering wheel is?
    Or, perhaps, you're just getting old, like me, and forget why you are walking down the hall before you even get to the other end. :)

    Conversely, I have an outlet on the right garage wall by the roll up door. It's in the perfect location for the PIP charge outlet. I don't have to run extra cables and the charger/cable do not get in the way. So for my needs it is in the perfect spot.

    However, when charging outside of my house I would rather the outlet be in the front of the car so I don't have to back into a parking spot or unwind all of the cable to reach. :)

    Example of how the Volt has a better placement.

    I've been getting used to backing into the driveway to use the Level 2 charger. :D

    Curbside recharging wouldn't work well on the driver's side.

    In my case, the placement on Prius is great. Inside, the tight garage plugging works well with it in the corner of the vehicle. Outside, I face the front of the vehicle toward the sun; so, backing is needed anyway.

    I've never seen a curb side charger so I didn't think of that. :oops:

    Ahh, you're in the UK. Ok, maybe that's why. Odd that they would remove it. I mean, it's a bunch of SMDs.

    But that's a rather selfish point of view because for those who drive on the left side (right-hand drive), the port is on the driver's side.

    Also, as we noted above, the charging port was moved to save weight. The DC converter was moved from underneath the front seat and was combined as one unit at the back. It also saved on wiring (again, weight savings).

    It's no different than an engine block heater (which you definitely can't see regardless of which side you approach the car unless you approach it head on).
