With the changes in the midcycle refresh some things that were standard in the 10-11 are no longer in the 12-13, the one thing I know is that the little tray in the center console is gone-what else was lost?
Foglight blanks in the bumper cover. Now you have to buy the lower grill to add foglights. Silver painted alloy wheels.
The 2nd cupholder is exposed (previously, it was hidden in the centre console box so the box was larger and the 2nd cupholder was removeable) POWER button is blue (previously black) Hazard triangle button was black with red triangle. Now the entire button is red Intelligent Parking Assist/Advanced Parking Guidance System was removed from the AT package (HUD was put in its place) Leather is gone, replaced with SofTex in the Four, Five trim and on the Persona Series DVD-based nav is replaced with flash-based 6.1" screen or HDD-based 7" high-res screen w/ split screen capability and DVD-playback Water repellent front door glass was removed from Four and Give Plasmacluster ionizer air filter removed from Four and Five models
Question on these two. Are both NAV's equiped with the DVD playback, or just the larger 7" one? I think the ionizer is standard now on the 2013's, right?
"Plasmacluster ionizer air filter removed from Four and Five models" I'm pretty sure mine has this. It has the button you can use for a 3 minute air cleaning type of thing. Pretty sure that's what you're talking about
No, the mode you are referring to just is a higher degree of air recirculation (cuts out even more outside air than plain recirulate mode) meant to pass more cabin air through the air filter.
Nope. That's not the plasmacluster ionizer. The ionizer is a unit behind the driver's side vent that sends out positive and negative ions to attract dust and other particles and settle them down. The button you're referring to is a "dust & pollen filter" button (I know, it's confusing cause there's a dust and pollen filter behind the glovebox that is in use all the time). It closes the vents 100% (regular recirculation is about 70-80% closed) to pass cabin air through the filter.
Sometimes you keep non-value parts just to brag about them. But the ionizer sounds useful if you know about it and how to use it. I had never even heard of it before. A bunch of dust gathers on my MFD.
Stealth mode is electric-only driving while still in HV mode, when that little "EV" symbol illuminates. That's been a fundamental part of the Prius system and still is.
But now there's a noisemaker, so the stealth is gone and it's merely an EV with an electronic baseball card stuck in the spokes.
The engine remaining off hasn't changed. There has only been the introduction of noise at speeds up to 15 mph. Since Stealth operates at speeds up to 46 mph, "gone" is clearly not the appropriate term.
Yeah but if consumers won't buy them, and it helps reduce cost, then the manufacturer would think so. I like the water-repellent front door glass on mine (removed in 2012). Works well in the rain and snow.
