I have a Model 5 Prius also. How white are drive lights compared to LED head lights. I know if wired correctly they will not be on at same time but was just wondering. And can you show picks where u hooked up wires for power and for auto off - turn signal

Doesn't follow the lines of the car. I wouldn't do it.

    Hi ,

12v Tap for DRL LEDs Engine Compartment Fuse Box - (Black Wire corner of plug) Measure with Volt Meter to be sure! I started, stopped, and turned if the car to test + plus turned on/off head lights/parking lights

"Sense" tap was White/Blk side Marker Light wire (on drivers side)

Verify these with a volt meter. it has been a while since I installed them for the WebElectric DRL's.

Hi Zed, so the black wire is the only wire that you need to connect? I have a gen II, is it going to be different? I'm really interested in getting drls, but I'm not confident in the wiring.

you are in the wrong forum buddy. Parking lights are probably the easiest just search around the forums for led threads.

Follow up to my previous post, I ordered the 4's, contacted the guy about the box, but is it okay to just wire them to the battery like instructed?

Might need the specific module for hybrids, the start/stop of the ICE was causing problems with the DRLs with the original module.

Right, thats why I contacted the guy everyone is talking about and he said he'd send me a module. He said that the drls need a constant 13.7 volts to stay on and the prius doesn't constantly supply that. I just don't want to go through all the troubles of trying to wire it through the windshield wiper motor if I don't need to.

They were wiring to the windshield washer motor to get a 12V hot wire when the car is in Ready mode.

Hey guys, after a bit of work I successfully installed the philips daylight 4s on my genII. They work great and I love how they look! The picture doesn't do it much good in terms of brightness. [IMG]

From another thread, but these DRL modules might just be the ticket to having the Daylight DRLs dim when the headlights/parking lights are turned on: Link

Additionally, it seems like the DRLs can be wired to flash on the side that the turn signals are activated.

    Hi all,

New to Moding my Prius and Ordered the 8 pack, Contacted the Gentalmaen from Philips and he sent the replacement control box. I have read this Post and other Post and have just a wireing clarification as i want to do it correctly.
My background is i haverecently added Foglights, the Lighted sill and thoes came with very easy to follow instructions and was able to find Videos on Youtube to back it up. Installed both with no issues so thinking this will be even easier.
I will tap the Orange "Sense" wire to the Lights so they Dim when Lights are on. I will connect the Blue wire to the Fuse Box per instructions. but then want to make sure i connect the Black and red to the proper wires / volt. I do have a volt meter.
I am sorry if i sound like i am repeating stuff that haev already been answered it is because i am not getting it.
    Thanks In advance
    Jay

For me, skipped the blue and orange wire. Just did red to the part with the red plus on it (i cant think of the name of it) and then grounded the black to the nut above it. My lights have never shut off. But I have noticed they will stay on for about 7 seconds after the car turns off, then turn on for another 7 seconds about a minute later when the gas vapor checker thing turns on. Oh and when im stopped they will turn off for half a second every 10 seconds. Other than that no problems, hope this helps.

I think that updated control module takes care of the DRLs shutting off when the car is stopped with the ICE off.

correct, the updated module with the blue wire you plug into the fuse box, new instructions came with the new module and told what empty fuse to put it in, and that tells it when the start button is turned on or off so the lights turn off when the car turs off and stay on at a stop light and all is shut off..

Ok so i just need to follow Zedkneppil instructions and pics a few post ago and attach the red to 12v power and the orange to the headlight wire( as i have the 8 and not 4 and want it to dim when headlights on) and then ground the black.

Let me know if i am in the ballpark or way in left field.
    Thanks
    Jay
