Yup. When I did my front speaker install it had just rained the night before and my stock speakers were wet when I took them out so it does happen to the stock as well.
Just installed mine with a Pioneer AVIC-X940BT head unit , looks good and sound is improved compare to the stock HU
GPS works great , did a bypass forn the dvd so it plays even when driving, not recommanded but i did it anyway... right now i'm using the Pioneer mic that i have installed on the sunvisor , bearly seeing it , as for the seering wheel control , i need tobuy the Axxess ASWC-1 adaptor to make it work , and for the usb/3.5 jack , the stock one is not working , so i hooked the Pioneer one in the glovebox for now , but i will buy the Axeess AX-USB-35EXT and install it beside the ECO switch near the parking brake , but so far i am very please with this head unit .
What about installing marine audio speakers ? would those be any good ? Found some here : 2 Pairs of Kenwood KFC 1652MRW 6 5" Marine Boat Speakers 1200 Watts | eBay
Read post # 146,i explained everyhing there, like i said, very happy with this unit so far, bought it on special at b★★tbuy for $549 , at that price, can't really go wrong !
it was cheap , i was shopping around for a while for a unit like that , and when i saw it advertised with a $250 rebate , i just jumped on it . so instead of 799 , got it for 549 . don't be in a hurry to buy , look around for deals and you will find what you want .
So far I'm looking to the Kenwood DNX690HD, but Holding to see the DNN790HD with Wi-fi to be release in April (both are 6.1 and Siri enable)
So can anyone confirm the usb adapter that we should buy? Is it the AX-TOYUSB? Product Instructions >> USB adaptor harness to retain the OE USB in select Toyota vehicles Toyota 2012-up The AX-TOYUSB is use when you are wanting... or the AX-TOYUSB-2? USB adaptor harness to retain the OE USB in select Toyota vehicles Toyota 2010-up The AX-TOYUSB-2 is use when you are wanting to retain the OE USB... Trying to finish my install and don't know which one will work if any. Would like to keep the stock usb location if possible. Thanks, Rich
AX-TOYUSB and only use the USB port, the 3.5mm doesn't work since only use it had is the USB. Metra Also has an adapter AX-USB-35EXT that uses both and replace the oem USB/3.5mm. See post 128-133
So has anyone gotten the AX-USB-35Ext and confirmed that it fits in the factory location without any problems?
OK, I am finally going to replace my factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. For now I am gonna be using a single DIN flipout DVD unit. I do have plans to put a double DIN unit in in the near future. I am just wanting to make sure I have all I will need. I have ordered the following. Please let me know if I have overlooked anything. Metra 99-8239B Toyota Prius C 2012-up Black Single/Double DIN Stereo Dash Kit Axxess ASWC Axxess AX-TOY28SWC Axxess AX-USB-35EXT I have the radio already. I also have a 250 watt alpine amp and a 12" kicker sub that I plan on putting in. If I have missed anything please let me know. I have read this thread from front to back a couple times and tried to make sure I got everything.
Assuming that the dash kit came with the antenna and radio adapter so it's complete, if not well you need the antenna and the speakers adapter.
I forgot to mention those, I got the radio adapter from Crutchfield. Its the one for "For select 1987-up Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Subaru, and Geo vehicles" and the antenna adapter is the "Toyota/Lexus/Scion/Subaru Antenna Adapter Connect an aftermarket receiver to the factory antenna in select 2010-up vehicles (Motorola male to female molex connector)" from Crutchfield also. Assuming that Crutchfield knows what fits the Prius C they are the ones it said I needed.
Well once installed provide photos or videos of your radio to see how it's look. I still debating which NAVI from Kenwood get, if the DNN770HD (wifi enable) meet my spectations, if not go then with the DNX690HD (both are 2013 release and at least Siri enable for my IPhone)
And let us know if the Axxess AX-USB-35EXT works and fit in the oem emplacement , a few persons here are waiting to buy ! Thanks in advance.
