    Bear,

If you enter your Data on the "Enter Data Here" tab, I'll move it to the "MPG" tab.
This keeps the MPG data clean, as long as no one plays with it.
    I back it up too.

the average mph reading is so bogus. i was out with the car turned on but in park for 2 hours; the average speed plummeted. how hard can it be for the car to only count time spent in D and B toward that calculation?

i was wondering why it always seemed so low, but it's not something you can figure easily.

I updated the google docs worksheet and attached my tracker.
On this tank I turned off the eco button, and will leave it off for a while.
I'm interested to see how well I manage the accelerator without it.

Steady rise in temperature is improving my EV range and cost per mile.
You can see the trend in the tracker that I've attached, and I'm looking forward to 70 degree days.

Lower cost per gallon of regular gas is driving the improvement in HV cost per mile.

On the current tank, that I just filled, I will take my first highway trip.
    Stay tuned, and Happy Motoring!

    Mid fill-up update...
Took the PIP on its first road trip. About 250 miles, from Philadelphia area into Berk's county in PA. Smallish mountains with a lot of extended uphill travel. Took one route out and another back. Frankly, it felt like uphill both ways!

Anyway, based on my observations of my segments, measured by the car when I turn it off, and pretty long segments of driving, I was around 60 mpg. I had to keep up with trafffic so I was going about 65 mph on the highway which was most of these 250 miles. Stunningly good efficiency.

Every time I take this vehicle into another aspect of motoring I am blown away by how well it performs. Mrs JimPHL was very happy with the ride and the GPS. Only complaint was rough sections of road, as she drives the Venza, which she worships.

I will update the tank stats in a couple weeks. Hmm, that sentence in and of itself speaks volumes, doesn't it?!?

    Hello -
Can anyone tell me why my calculated values didn't appear after I entered my 4/11/13 data?
    Thank you!

    Another amazing tank...

About 50% highway, and one of the best tanks yet. Note that the weather is warming and that this was the lowest cost per gallon at the pump at $3.139. However, as I posted above, we took a 250 mile trip through the hills of eastern PA, and I expected my worst fill up, not one of my best. Overall, this was the tank with the lowest cost per mile at US$ 0.053 per mile.

I've attached my stats, and there is a clear relationship between the outside air temperature and the performance in EV mode. See the MPGe column, which rises steadily from from 98.5 in December to 132.5 in late April. The MPkWh rises as dramatically, from 2.9 to 3.9, respectively. I also assume that my EV mode learning curve is starting to flatten, but the car gets 99% of the credit.

The car's payback was a loving hand wash. Glad to get her out of the automatic car wash, but when the temps are low we make do with what we have. She was happy and purred the entire time! Surprised me twice, when she started up while cleaning a front tire, and then again when I was drying under the hood. I had the music on, so she had to keep the battery full.

Last tidbit...the tires hold pressure very well. Down only 1 pound in the front tires in more than 1,5000 miles, at 40 psi. Rears are rock steady at 39 psi. I guess the in and out of driveways and parking lots beats the pulp out of the fronts. They go for their rotation next weekend along with the 5k service.

Loving this car, and Prius Chat. Thanks to all for the tips and inspiration. I hope I am returning the favors by sharing my stats and driving experiences.

P.S. If someone would sanity check my math I'd appreciate it, this just seems too good to be true :)

Now I remember - thanks! It's a little hard to remember this stuff when I only fill up about once every 3 months....:)

Hmm, my wife has a Venza and she loves it but I hate the ride. I think my PiP rides much better than her Venza, though you can't beat the Venza's handling.

The Venza's handling in the snow is fantastic. However, I prefer the Highlander for bad weather. But, the PIP rules the other 99% of the time :)

Short post; I'd like anyone following along to look at my tracker, and advise what was unusual about my last tank.

Hint; There is a story behind one of those numbers!
