Going through the threads I have found that the 15" Steel wheels weigh 16.5lbs.
And the stock 15" Bridgestone tire weigh 17lbs.
I would like to know what the weight of the 15" alloy wheel??

I don't recall exactly, but I know this has been found a few times. Maybe try a quick search and see if it shows up on some of the other wheel threads.

Mine weigh 15.7 lb but don't think lighter wheels are the route to better mpg. Tire weight counts 2 or 3 times as much because their weight is farther from the axle. Its about torque.
Its the reason 195/55x15 tires are slightly less diameter than 175/65x15 tires because they are a couple lb heavier.

I dont know where the 195/55X15 tires came into this thread. I know the tire weight counts much more than the wheel weight. But all the 175/65X15 tires are within 2lbs of each other. There is only a few tires that are lighter than the stock Bridgestones. And there only lighter by 1lbs.
But 15" wheels weigh anywhere from 8-19lbs depending on casting and model. Thats where the saving are at.

The alternate tires for Prius is 195/55x15 and they are a half inch less in diameter than 175/65x15's which helps the mpg stay in the 45-50 mpg range. Wanna see a big change? Strap 205/50x15's on. Its nearly two inches less in diameter but weighs neary 4 lb more.

He was probably writing about the regular Prius. People get confused all the time about what forum they are in.
