I just hit 20,000 miles and my Hybrid System Indicator Trip B which has my historical data was reset to zero. When I got to the first 10,000 miles it did the same thing but at that time I thought I reset it by mistake.
When I hit 10,000 mine simply dropped the first digit off the odometer readout on B which is my lifetime. So 10,000 actually read 0000. But it kept on ticking without the first digit. When I hit 20,000 the exact same thing happened. Your readout is still counting....you just have to mentally put the 1 or 2 back in the front of it.
In other words, it is a five digit odometer- zeros out after 9999.9 In the old days, cars used to do this with mechanical odometers at 99,999.9 in the days before trip odometers and all the electronics we have today.
Yes either Trip A or B if it hits 10,000 miles. The info below is from the Prius User Guide: "There are two storage meters available, trip “A” and “B”. Each accumulates separate results. Drivers find this handy for tracking a variety of conditions. You can reset whenever you want… each trip, when the tank is refilled, or just leave it to collect up to 10,000 miles of data."
I just passed 10,000 and everything stayed the same and is working except Miles went to zero. I think they did not put any more digits for odo in the trip a/b functions so, that is the only thing that went back to zero. I guess just remember that you have to add 10,000 miles to your new total. So just the miles reset.
haha, I blew up the service writer at our dealership because I thought they did it after I gave specific instructions not to on our previous service. I supose a apology is in order when I take it in next.
We shouldn't judge, should we? My first suspect was the service department too. I didn't understand why my Trip B was exactly 10,000 off from the odometer reading the first time around.
