Maybe not a fair comparison for others to read about (without giving all the details). You pay a low monthly subscription fee to charge all you want, right? 90% of my charging is done at work for free...so I guess I should say that my cost per EV mile is about 0.2 cents. (2 cents per mile when I charge at home 10% of the time).

You are confusing my post with someone else's. I have no solar panels. The numbers I gave were based on grid provided electricity and miles I get per charge. All of which are repeatable by anyone else with no solar panels.

In a previous post I gave the thermodynamics...the energy conversion factors...i.e. the equivalent BTUs (British thermal units) in a gallon of gas vs a kilowatt-hour of electricity. To better explain:

1 gallon of gas = 114,000 BTUs; at $4/gal that is 28,500 BTUs per $
    1 kw-hour = 3412 BTUs; at $.10/kwh that is 34,120 BTUs per $

However, it takes fewer BTUs to go a mile in EV.

    50 mpg on gas = 2280 BTU/mile
    12 miles per 3 kw-hr charge = 853 BTU/mile on EV

Is this due to the relative efficiencies of electric and gasoline motors?

I am pretty sure my earlier post(s) in this very same thread disclosed those details.

Perhaps your calculation of the cost of charging at work is flawed, after all you are bartering your time for that charging benefit, correct? :)
