How do I use the stock mic on an after market stereo, I've been searching through these forums all day people have been saying its possible but not how to do it. If someone could point me in the right way that would be great.
Those instructions are for a Toyota Tundra, I googled the original source. Hoping someone out there has the info on the Prius C oem mic wires, I'd also like to integrate the original mic on my pioneer headunit.
Metra don't have anything right now but now with the new AX-TOY28SWC I probably have an idea of how the mic should work without cutting or splicing. Let me see what Metra said since I submitted my idea.
Nope but I can give the info: The Mic cables are located at Pins #4, #5, #6, #18 & #19 according to this: So my idea with the AX-TOY28SWC is adding an ipod usb/3.5 cable type, connected to the toy28 and should work.
My aftermarket pioneer headunit accepts a mono 2.5mm plug for the bluetooth mic it came with, so wouldn't it just be only two wires that need to be tapped into? Would it be pin 5 and 19? Does the factory radio provide the power to the mic on the other pins? So I need to find a 6V source and put that into the Pin 4 and ground Pin 18?
Yeah I'd much prefer to use the stock mic but my pioneer mic seems to be working DECENT. time shall tell if anyone can make an easy fix..
Thanks for the writeup, I'm gunna give this a go next week when my sterio/harness/ect shows up. I'll let you know if it works or not.
How did it go? I never attempted this on mine, but rather used a 3rd party mic with my aftermarket unit.
