I have commented on similar threads before. Once I learned how to use the Prius NAV hardware (2010, IV) I like the system. What I hate is the software. I live in an old city where many roads have existed for 100 years. The Prius software is blank in so many of those areas .... no streets at all. It is hard to figure.

I have a hand-held Garmin, and it is OK for navigating, but we rely on the Apple phone more than either the built-in or the Garmin.

I like the iPhone navigation via maps. They changed from Google maps to there own when the iPhone 5 released via a O/S upgrade.
    Do you find any differences?

Many people were in an uproar of that.

I thought the iPhone maps was Ok albeit I only used it a couple of times.

Maybe it's wishful thing but I can hardly wait for the time to come when GPS is integrated with Google Earth. That way your Nav. System could display satelite, hybrid or maps. Problem is, satelite data is generally a couple of years old. Subscriptions would probably be expensive for up-to-date imagery. Like I said, "wishful thinking".

Yep, NUVI 2595, for me! As much as I love my gorgeous blue Prius, it's engineering, it's style, it's futuristic dashboard, the room, gas mileage, so quiet, the overall quality.......I hate the NAV. I consider the Prius to be a great purchase, huge value, with a $1000 1995 quality Money (NAV) pit they hoodwinked me into buying. If Garmin is a an "A"..... Toyota is a D-

Just imagine if Toyota used the Garmin software like in the new Chryslers and Jeeps? I'd be in heaven!

Take a look at Audi | NVIDIA and GOOGLE EARTH HITS THE OPEN ROAD WITH AUDI AND NVIDIA. I saw a demo of this type of stuff w/Nvidia powering it and and Audi guy talking at CES a few years ago.

It is on the new Audi A6. Friends got one and it has a gorgeous Google Earth with the 3D look.

Yeah, I think I saw it on Cnet. It is cool but probably a very costly option at this point in time. Hope it catches on and drops the prices.

Vs the $2,000 Prius Nav option? Crazy as you can buy a gamer laptop for that kind of money. Installed car navs are a terrible rip off. At least Audi gives a nice one for the money with the gorgeous Google Earth.

I guess if you can afford an Audi A-6, $6 K is not a problem. I'm also guessing the price. It could be more. However, to make a unit like that afffordable for the masses is probably quite away off in the future.

This was an A6 and adder, like Prius was a package.

Do you mean to say that this package isn't available on the A-8? And, how much is this package? Oh! What does this package include in addition to the NVIDIA?

I mean to say your comment that getting the Google Earth nav requires purchasing an A8 was wrong.

My sister has the 2012 Prius with Nav, and it must have been poor software or faulty logarithms. Too often it showed our destination as being more than 1000 feet incorrect, and this happened for most destinations. Arriving at a destination, we were on the wrong street, or or looking around happened to see it way off in the distance. The process of inputing a destination was time consuming, and the voice commands got us laughing how ridiculously long and drawn out the helpful voice spill is.

Not so for my 2004 Prius Nav. I think it was far ahead of its time for accuracy and easy of use. It showed my exact location and accurate movements as I was on the 3rd sublevel parking lot in Phoenix, started the car it showed me in the middle of where the building was and followed me as I wound my way up through the levels to the exit.

Of course the 2004 Nav maps are hopelessly out of date back in 2010 and now, but there was never incorrect data, no roads missing but for new construction. I love the feature of touching the map where you want your destination to be, and select it, that is so easy. I often commented 2004 Nav (2003 or earlier production Nav) was more accurate in finding POIs than my 2010 Garmin 1490t, the Garmin had a nasty habit of omiting POI's. Seems if a city has 4 Costco's that were around 4 years before the Garmin was built, only 2 could be found among the POIs (SLC, Utah). Made me laugh the millions of advertised POI's, but only covered potentially 80% of existing POI's.

Toyota needs to get with the developer and get some things straightened out with the newer systems, am I right on this?

Okay, putting my fire suit on... We have a 2012 Prius Four, and have been VERY satisfied with the nav. Easier and better than our Garmin In the previous car. More complete maps when we travel.

We recently bought a 2012 Prius Five. I think anyone who has prior experience with even a low-end Garmin will quickly give up on the gawd-awful built-in Entune Nav. We sure did.
