Did you get a picture? If so, there is a 100 mpg thread to post it to.

. Sorry, I am not into digital cameras, IPhones, as they constantly break on me. I don't even wear a watch anymore. Trust me, I do not prevaricate.

. I guess if you like stats, there might be a place for consumption. I consider consumption the only real statistic of value.

. Next, my goal is 200 mpg, probably unattainable.

Isn't 100mpg kind of the average for the PIP?

. NO, I am speaking of your highest HSI Consumption reading. If you think that is average then your HSI reading must be larger......?

Is the HSI the screen that shows you the EV throttle? If so, I reset it every time I fill my gas tank.

    Here's my current tank:

I'm not sure what this display is called by I have not reset it since I've purchased the PIP

It varies throughout the year, especially if you drive 18,500 miles per year like me. Fewer annual miles could deliver much higher MPG averages or don't like in an extreme climate.

    Here's mine, from Minnesota driving...

Winter causes quite an efficiency hit.

MnMi: Very nice readings. You are lucky to be able to drive almost exclusively EV. The two screens are the EV/HV ratios for trip A and trip B. the first picture is your HSI or Hybrid Synergy Indicator showing your average consumption. The MPG should really be MPGe, that's what it represents. God job!

Still great readings John. It appears as tho June is the height of Summer and from there on Winter is coming to MI. One could almost transpose those mileage readings to temperature bars, take 35 off each bar.

No. That's mpg, gas only. MPGe would include the energy used in EV mode, with a conversion factor of 1 gallon = 33 kwh or something similar.

Using common sense, I Rather doubt that the Ice can obtain 93, or 100 or more MPG without the assistance of the HV Battery using Hybrid synergy. If that was the case, many ICE Autos would be getting 100 mpg PLUS. ( and nobody would be buying EVs or. Hybrids )

Again you're confusing terms here. MPGe means miles per gallon equivalent, not miles per gallon with electric assist. You can get 115+ mpg at 65 mph in EV-boost mode because the ICE runs under very light load and the battery+motor provide assistance. The number is high because the electricity used is NOT factored into this number.
Simple experiment: drive 5 miles in EV, then stomp on the accelerator and park the car. Let it run for 10 seconds and shut off. What's the trip mpg readout? Something close to 500 mpg, if not more. If this were MPGe, the Prius would have broken the laws of physics, as the most efficient pure EV gets only 112 MPGe.

I don't doubt your theory Lensovet, however Johns latest post # 26 agrees totally with my interpretation of MPGe and what one reads on the HSI. PERHAPS, two interpretations might live side by side, one theoretical and one that is practical for Prius owners.

The real definition for MPGe is:
(total miles) / (total energy used)

    Total miles should be obvious.
Total energy used is the sum of gallons of gasoline and kwh (converted to the energy equivalent of gasoline)
The PIP does not calculate a true MPGe...it only gives you miles divided by the gasoline energy used...and in the EV ratio screen it gives you the EV miles and the kwh used
