The sooner you do it the better. I can imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with this all the time. Trust me, you will be so much happier with your car.

Exide and Optima are the name brands of two batteries. If you buy the battery at a store have them show you that it is fully charged. The store may not have one in stock so you may want to call ahead and have them charge it up before you come to pick it up. If you are having it delivered to you then you will need to ensure it is fully charged before installation. If you install a discharged battery you will be charging it up while it is in the car. In other words, do it now or do it later.

Hi Katia. If you do this yourself then please remember that you MUST get the polarity (+ and -) correct on the FIRST go. There is no second attempt here. If you connect the polarity incorrectly, even for just a second, then you can potentially do thousands of dollars worth of damage to your Pruis's electronics!

I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it, getting the polarity correct is extremely easy. Just make extra sure that you've studied where the "+" goes and where the "-" goes before you pull the old battery, and that you connect the new battery this same way on the FIRST attempt. :)

oh, yes, we need to enjoy it more! right now i'm a little nervous every time we start it :) since it warmed up outside, we've had no problems with it, but still some uncertainty is unpleasant

    question 6 heated rear screen
I suspect the previous owner has had something large in the trunk and it has rubbed on the rear window and broken the very fine heating elements that are stuck on the rear glass. if you look closely with a magnifying glass you will see the brake in the element this cane be repaired with a repair kit a small bottle of liquid with lick a nail varnish brush in it you just join the lines up again.
