See, the roof wrapping looks nice but personally I wouldn't do it. It's way too hot here in Florida for black cars. I don't know why people buy them. I understand people like the color and all but getting in a black car after sitting in the sun everything is like 4 billion kelvin. It takes forever for the A/C to cool the car down. My Camry was a medium blue color and it had the same problem. LOVED THE COLOR except it was hotter than hell in the thing in the summer.

 

Move to Cali where the weather is much nicer.

I'm not too concerned about this since I have 3M Crystaline tint. It has awesome IR rejection which already help tremendously with keeping my interior cool. Not sure how much additional heat the black roof would produce during the summer, only time will tell. The great thing is I can always remove it if it becomes a problem.

 

I am in Irvine everyday (Mon-Fri).... from 6-3... we could meet during lunch time..... hehehehe

 

Yeah man I'm down. Maybe we can get Tracksyde, Totmacher, and JMT to meet up as well. They're in Irvine as well.

Rays Engineering ECO drive wheels (16x6) made specifically for the Prius. I wanted lightweight to maintain excellent mpg.

 

another priuschat member in Florida?! I've had a black roof on a number of my cars.. Never really had a problem with it getting that much hotter.. Tint helps a lot!!

 

I'm in Irvine as well (for work), in fact I think I saw another members car in the shopping center across from UCI the other day..... white with plastidipped emblems.

 

Yes I'm in Florida. Native to be exact. Dark cars are much hotter in the sun than lighter color cars. You can feel it by just touching the outside. Tint only helps so much. There is a distinct difference in interior temperature from a dark car parked in the sun and a white car parked in the sun.
