I looks like the TurboTax update that was supposed to fix the issue arrived this afternoon/evening, but it still gets hung up on the vehicle year and box 3b; hopefully they have this fixed very soon.

If you're really anxious for that return, taxact.com is where I filed and the IRS already accepted my 8936 electronically.

Our accountant was finally successful at submitting our return electronically on Monday. It turned out he was putting the letter O in the VIN in place of a zero. Putz! Once he had my wife read the VIN off to him from the sticker on the door jamb, it accepted the return without a hitch.

I included a copy of the sales contract with my info I sent to my CPA. That way he had sales tax, correct VIN, etc right in front of him. The computer the dealer uses printed the VIN with a backslash through any zero digits.

Try deleting your vehicle information and then re-entering it. That worked for me. Intuit sent me an email with the following instructions:
After updating the product, the vehicle will need to be deleted and re-entered to remove error.

Please use these steps to delete previously entered vehicle(s).
    • Select the “Federal Taxes” tab
    • Select “Deductions & Credits” tab underneath the Federal Taxes tab
    • Select “Explore On My Own” link
    • Scroll down to “Cars and Other Things You Own” area of interview
    • Select “Update” for Energy-Efficient Vehicles
    • On “Energy-Efficient Vehicle Summary” screen
    • Select “Delete” for vehicle(s) previously entered
    • Re-enter the vehicle
    • The error will now be cleared

Plan on doing my taxes this weekend- so as of today 3/8/13 is TurboTax accepting the 2012 PIP for the credit after install updates?

Yep, I filed my taxes last night, and this morning got a message they have been accepted by both the IRS and the State. You do have to delete your entry for the PIP and then fill out the form again.

    Thanks!
Just starting on the entries this morning- so I don't have any previous data.

    Cheers...

Everything pretty much cleared on my end without much hassle. I submitted during the soft opening window last Sunday. The IRS accepted right away and my two states I file for were accepted in a few hours. 1 week later I've already gotten my California and Georgia refunds and my Federal refund came out of the dreaded "we are reviewing your return and will provide a date when available" this morning so I am now scheduled to get my return next Wednesday. If you see that message and your status bar on the Wheres my refund goes away it is due to them reviewing your 8936 and other credits forms. If all is right you will clear in about 3 days and not get a letter requesting additional info. (Make sure your VIN is correct!) I used TaxAct. They seemed to really be on top of the changes etc.

I don't remember the exact wording, but I got a similar message this morning and the status bar is gone. How did you find out about the three days and getting your refund on Wednesday? Mine was also filed last Sunday.

The three days were what it took for me to clear but also saw this time frame on a few sites for other IRS credits forms. There are some folks getting held up for a month or more for bad information on their forms or getting audited if they get that message. Critical to make sure the form is right and especially the VIN.

    Filed/Accepted - Sunday
Status Bar saying it is received - Monday and Tuesday
Status Bar gone with review message - Wednesday to Friday
    State Refunds Clear - Wednesday
Status Bar back with refund approved and expect date of Wednesday - Saturday

From your post I thought you just got the "we are reviewing.........." message this morning. That's what I got today. In reading your post again, I see now that you came out of that status today. I'm hoping tomorrow or Monday maybe I'll get a refund date. Do they work weekends? :) Thanks for following up. I did check my return for the VIN, and it is correct.
