Hello everyone! I recently stumbled upon this website (today) and decided to sign up and post! So here it is.. My girlfriend is pregnant with my new baby boy, I own a 2011 Chevy camaro. I need something more family-esque.. I'm looking at the Prius Four mostly because I would be able to keep my HUD. Besides price and a couple packages are there any major difference between the three and four? Thank you, and hopefully in the next week ill be a Prius owner! Brett
Welcome aboard Brett. That packages have changed a bit since 2010 so I won't be of help there, but you should be able to get a good idea from toyota.com Quite a shift from the camaro... will you get trading that in for the Prius?
The Four can have the power drivers seat, Softex interior and the 7.1 audio system. The Three comes with the 6.1 audio system. Mike
Thank you for the warm welcome! It's so hard giving up the camaro.. I'll get around 21k for the camaro. I was told that no Prius comes with any power seats.. Does that come standard in the four?
Thank you for that information! I've been spoiled by my camaro and was hoping to keep a lot of the same options.
I have the Four with the solar roof package. The four the NAV screen is larger. It has HUD but hardly notice it anymore. The Solar roof is a nice feature. The car is cooled when the temperature is above 70 degrees. The solar roof stores electricity and powers a fan that circulates the air inside the car when parked. Great when you put your baby in a car that is not to hot. With a growing family perhaps the Prius V wagon is the better choice.
The only issue I have with the Prius V is the decreased MPG. We aren't planning on having anymore kids for atleast 5 years. So the Prius actually meets our needs just fine at this current moment. In 5 years I'm sure we'd be looking into getting a SUV. Like you said the solar panel was a huge reason why we selected the Prius. The HUD was a major reason I want the four since I have it on my camaro and absolutely love it. Thank you very much for replying I appreciate it.
Prius V's are like me too cars down there. You'd be more unique sporting a Four Solar Plus Performance Mike
Then I think I'll stick with the four! Lol the Prius v 5 + ATP would be what I want.. But I'm sure that takes me above my price range. The four was cutting it.
Four Solar Plus Performance in 2012 cost me $37,407 but there was a huge discount off that Solar roof isn't necessary and costs like $4k on a Four as is comes with other juicy features then. My wife made me order it so that is why I got what I have. Mike
I got a cpo Four with the solar package and can highly recommend it for Florida. It also makes the car a little more interesting aesthetically.
There is no ifs ands or buts about the solar panel especially in FL like Jason mentioned. Mike this is what I was "estimated" at: Series: Prius Model: STD 1227 - Base/Gas Electric - Pri Model Year: 2013 Transmission: Continuously Variable Transmission VIN: XXXXXXXXXXX648375 Exterior: Nautical Blue Metallic Interior: Bisque Leather Estimated Pricing* MSRP Base $28,435.00 Options $5,236.98 Manuf. Delv, Proc, & Hndlg $860.00 Total $34,531.98 *without TTT which would be transferred and 300 dollar auto advisor fee.
Great choice of Prius Four, Blue and Bisque. You will really like the Solar Fan! I've tested it in Florida a couple of times already and it works great. Keeps the interior temperature to sane levels. Plus on those really hot days you can pre cool your cabin with the a/c 10 minutes before you get in. Congratulations all around, too, Brett. New new son and new car! Great combo! You may be able to forgo the SUV down the road, once you live with the Prius a while. Interior is comfortable for two adults and 3 children, while still leaving plenty of space for cargo. Then again, who knows what kinds of cars will be available to us in 5 years! Enjoy the family and the car.
Leather? Aftermarket? When we travel to Florida we use those windshield shades when we park. A couple weeks ago we had a silver RAV4 when it was in the 80's & 90's in Orlando and it was very comfortable coming back out after a day of shopping The solar roof does it's thing on my Prius but my car sits in the garage more often than being outside in the sunshine Mike
Thank you very much! In five years we may want another prius, my girlfriend actually really likes the look of the "leaked" 5th gen prius photos. It will be so nice not having to get into a car that is like a sauna. The camaro has a black interior so.. yeah the leather is like sitting on hot coal (not that I have done that). I less than three months I will have a baby boy! I will definitely enjoy both and glad to have the security of a prius. BTW, I am putting a deposit down for the vehicle today! Unfortunately it will be leather.. We wanted dark cloth. I will have to use the shades and the Prius will be witting outside pretty much full time.
Post a bunch of pics so we can see what you got when you get the car home Kids like the Prius for some reason too. Same with chicks. My wife is a Prius nut Mike
So a couple quick questions, someone told me yesterday that I would waste a lot of gas figuring out how to drive a prius. Can anyone here please enlighten me on the subject? Also, in your experience how well has the prius done in colder conditions? I.E. Wisconsin.
Prius will get good mpg's just driving it like a normal car. 45+ mpg with no attention or care about how it is driven. Even driven like a bat out of hell it will still give you 40+ mpg Sure you can do Hypermiling but it is not necessary. Prius drives excellent even on OEM tires on snow & ice up here. I have driven many rental Prii in the winter in snowstorms and crazy ice at night. The car handles excellent and is easy to correct in a skid or drift from cross winds when on ice covered roads. Are you moving up here or sumthin? Winter stinks up here Mike
