    First response:
My error, I thought we were all on the same page relating to chicken dance programming - only Gen2, silver back, virgin fob. Gen3 require Techstream lite, and a mongoose cable (or a specific Mangoose cable,) caveat emptor, no seed reset to add a virgin fob, seed reset for used fob/no fob scenario (including Gen2)

    Second response:
We basically agree. In the beginning, I did happen to have the funds available to buy the necessary equipment to program the ECU, and it was expensive to put my money where my mouth was on principle. There is now a more affordable way to fight Toyota, and I believe it is cheaper, including a used fob, to do it oneself - unless you happen to be fortunate enough to have a dealer who is ethical. Searching the sites threads, you will find that case exists only rarely.

Perhaps I am lucky in several respects relating to this, as I did play the dealer game for a new fob, and laser key, before I invested in TS lite, but there are others not so fortunate whose vehicle is subject to Toyota's ransom, with no way out - until recently, but there will be those who cannot afford that either, and that is a shame.

Great conversation... I submit that PriusChat is most important to DIY people that enjoy tinkering and if they can spend a half-day making a used spare FOB work for there car and save $200 in the process then PriusChat deserves kudos for making it possible. We all know that car manufacturers make their money not on selling new cars but on selling outrageously priced replacement parts and repair services and Prius Chat provides a way to not be victimized by that racket.

As for dorunron | PriusChat talking down to people who can't afford to make repairs to their car, implying that they are not responsible car owners, that's offensive. Almost every one of us sooner or later is in over our heads with affording repairs to our homes, cars and personal health and to cast blame on people for not being responsible enough to afford huge unexpected costs is elitist and arrogant towards good honest people who are being exploited in their jobs and have a hard time making ends meet through no fault of their own.

Practice what you preach, I see very often how you do the exact same thing that you accuse me of. IMO calling folks foolish is VERY offensive!

Here is a example that you just posted.

Anybody who makes less than a million dollars a year is foolish to buy a new car... Sure it's fun to pretend to be wealthy and buy stuff on credit that's going to right away lose half it's value but its irresponsible for your own bank account and irresponsible to society in general.

However, to keep peace on the board I will try to be more eloquent in the future.

You're funny... Not sure how much money you make but to suggest people who can't afford car repairs are irresponsible is offensive. Most all of us are financially challenged and I'm here to help those folks... As for you... I'm not really sure what you're here to do?

What is the chicken dance method for programing a new 2008 black and silver SKS fob? I can find references to it but no description.

I posted on the RemoteSupermarket thread - got plug-in only programming of the used fob for $39.95 at the Dealer (no wireless lock/unlock either) & the key cut for $2. at a local locksmith. Good enough for an occasional-use spare. OK on no "chicken dance" wireless for used fobs. Thanks!
