there is a recent thread on this, and it's in the manual. sorry, it's too complicated for me to remember. something about the go button, the km/miles button, etc., etc.

Wow, that was a big help. I didn't think it would be in the manual because it wasn't in my 2005. I assumed they want to keep you on the hook every 5k miles. I'll check the manual as soon as the wife comes home with the car. Thanks, conrad.
I couldn't find the thread as I'm not to good navigating forums

To reset Maint light for Gen III:
    1) Set display to Trip A
    2) Turn car off
    3) While holding down MPH/KPH button press Power button with foot on brake
    4) Display will show time to completion
    5) When complete release MPH/KPH button and Maint function is reset until the next 4500 miles

Thanks for the effort but my wife has the car at work right now. Are those instructions for the Prius 'Plug In'?

i just tried it, it worked perfectly. a little time bar shows the progress until completion, it was only a second or two. step 1 should probably be: put foot on brake, press power button, but i guess they are assuming if you are looking at the message, the car is already on. thanks jd!:)
