What new thing have you discovered about your Prius?

I recently read about programming the lock / unlock settings and its super cool! One problem is that I would like the doors to lock when I put it in drive (which it currently does) but also have the doors stay unlocked when I shift to Park and only open all doors once I open the driver's door. Is there a way to do this? I've followed the instructions in the manual but it won't work, keeps reverting back to unlocking all doors as soon as I put it in Park.

Has anyone tried this?

 

1. Interior lights illuminate as you walk near. I haven't pressed a button or touched the handle yet.
2. Headlight delay off. I'll never run out out of battery forgetting to turn off the lights. Some members report it not working sometimes but it hasn't failed me yet.

Didn't even know about this one. I'm going to give it a try.

 

I recently just learn that UFO sound is made by an artificial noise maker... I kind of like the sound.

 

I love that in using cruise in the mountains, my prius not only keeps me up to speed, but down to speed as well. It uses regen braking & when the battery is full it even automatically activates the engine brake. How cool is that!?!

This week I had the 3 recall issues on my '08 taken care of. The dealer put me in an Enterprise rental since my work was going to take several hours. The rental was a '13 Chevy Impala. I first of all had to actually stick the key in the ignition. I had to guess at how hot or cold the heater was going to be. As I pulled onto the street, the blooming thing started changing gears! How 20th century is that!?! It was a time-warp.

Well... there was a reason why GM went bankrupted.

 

GM didnt go bankrupt, they used our tax money to bail them out.

 

I was being sarcastic

 

So was I.

 

I believe GM did go bankrupt and the government used our tax money to protect the union. The shareholders were put at the back of the line. That seems like sarcasm, but it's actually the truth.

 

I noticed about a week ago that when I move the dash light control "wheel" from the top bright position to just one click down that the dash lights will auto dim depending on the light outside, it seems soo much easier on my eyes to have this do it on its own.

 

This is sort of a clone of another older thread, but I can't find it right now. One thing I recently discovered while changing the wiper blades is the rear wiper has a cover that can easily be lifted up by pulling out the sides a little and lifting up. With the cover up you can raise the wiper off the glass to a height that it will stay there on it's own. Useful when washing the car or cleaning the glass.

 

You guys probably already know this, for people with comfort access option. (Just carry key fob in your pocket). When you wash your car if you have the key FOB in your pocket the water from the water hose can activate the door lock and unlock.

 

You can take the tray out of the center console and place it sideways next to cig adapter under the under the shifter console as a tray to hold things together
