Hey everybody Wanted to say hello and thank all that post on this forum. I found a lot of good info on here. Got 2012 Prius II in November. So far I love it get around 52. Today was super cold here in ny so I got 45 on my usual drive to work with snow and ice, and snow tires. Yes I got another set of oem 15" rims I put 195/65/15 Michelin x-ice Xi-2 Have to say that those are super quiet and they perform excellent. Was not able to get traction ctrl to kick in on icy roads this am. I'll be posting here once time allows. Peter.
Isn't it practical? You don't have to go extreme to get great mileage. It is engineered very well. How far is your commute and the driving condition (city/highway, elevation, etc) is like?
It's great. Going from Ram2500 to prii was a big jump lol. I drive about 47miles one way. On mostly flat roads and I'm in Ny long island so sea level elevation. It's about 60/40 city/hwy. it's a straight shot but here we have a lot of traffic about 60% of my commust is bumper to bumper. On the weekend with worm temps I got 68 mpg driving the same route. I'm happy with 50+ mpg. My average is about 52 and I have almost 2000 miles on it.
Not occasional. Traffic on long island sucks. Its a everyday thing we have to live with Thanks for warm welcome everyone. This looks like good place to hang around. If anyone has busted Prius headlight lmk. I got a guy that has a load of projectors from 100 of cars I was wandering if we can replace it with D2S one and put real HID bulbs and ballasts. I'm totally against those aftermarket knockoffs. I do a lot of DIY, so that will be my project
Congrats and enjoy! I hate traffic as much as anyone but I find I get better mpg when it's there. Hope things are getting back together for you guys on LI.
Yes they do get better, it will take a while to recover from Sandy. I didn't loose much or had much damage but a lot of people lost everything and had to be rescued by coast guard Thanks for your concern buddy. I noticed that moderate traffic will net better mpg on pri.
You are in CA where only plugins and NGV are allowed in the HOV lane now. In NY, regular hybrids are still allowed.
I have to agree with you there. It's interesting how I'm always getting above the EPA that was on the sticker. I drove home last night in Power Mode the entire time wanting to see how bad the MPGs were. I normally get 60-70MPG on my drive home. I got 59 MPG using Power Mode. I was like "DAYUM". I can drive in Power Mode and get that I can be zipping along like the rest of them, of course while most of them are only getting 3oMPG max. LOL
