Gen2 Prius: Custom PIDs for Torque (Android App) with formulas

    You'll need to import new PIDs from the csv file. Only then they'll show up to choose in the gauges.

    I know it's a bit pricey But aside from the occasional ToD where I have to unplug it and do the 3 on/off deal, it's super fast and no muss no fuss to connect to my Android tablet running torque pro. I am going to try to update the firmware to see if that stops the occasional CAN faults at start up. Seems this is a pretty common problem with OBDII scanners in the G2s anyway. Worth a shot though. Will post the results of the upgrade and let you know if it stops the ToDs.

    I went back to my record and it looks like I did have lockup issue with the MX when I was testing it. Later on scantool.net came up with new firmware that fixed the issue for the original OBDLink and the SX. I can't find a record that I tested the new firmware with MX or not.

    I got ~ 15 queries/sec with MX but I was testing with my program which has some massively combined queries. I expect higher refresh rate with less loaded queries.

    Yeah Im going to try the firmware update tomorrow over bluetooth before I spring for the OBDII to DB9 cable. I guess thats the downside to the bluetooth comms, no cable to do firmware.

    Guys,
    I am using now Torque Pro with usbseawolf2000's PIDs and it is working really good, but I got one question. Maybe I just don't see it...
    I would like to see the total voltage of the HV battery, but it looks like I can display only the separate blocks of the battery. Am I missing anything? Is there a display for the total voltage?

    You want the Power Resource VB for HV battery voltage. Power Resource IB is the current.

    I am using Torque and it works fine except for a minor problem in that it does not display fuel consumption and all the variations thereof like instantaneous, trip, average cost etc.

    I have tried mpg, km/l and l/100km without success. I have confirmed that the vehicle profile is set up correctly.

    Could anyone please confirm if they get fuel consumption displayed in Torque? Any other suggestions are also welcome.

    I am confused by the parameters for the battery blocks voltage summary. Specifically parameter #98 (HV battery block lowest volt) and 100 (HV battery block highest volt) in the table of 1-11-12. The formula for 98 is identical for that of HV battery block 4 so #4 is reported as the lowest block all the time.
    #100 is giving values that don't correlate to an existing block voltage. In the scan I checked it was .2v above the highest block voltage. Could you check it please?
    I got wrong values using priidash last year perhaps for the same reason.

    The occurrence of Block 4 equal to HVB minV is once only. The equivalence of formulas got me to jump to conclusions.

    The formulas are the same but variables are different. 98 is using J and K while 100 is using M and N.

    They are provided by the HV battery unit so they must be more accurate. The voltage reported by 55-68 will have delays and the "refresh rate" is not that good due to the adapter limitations. I would trust 98 and 100 as they were calculated by BMU probably using instantaneous data.

    I tried driving today with my customized dashboard set up. I've tried to search and read up on the driving states of the prius, but I have some odd behviour I'm not able to figure out why its doing it.

    consistently after being on the highway for 10 miles and get off, the "ICE Warmup req" always turns on and my ICE keeps staying on even tho the coolant is around 80 C for several minutes. This behaviour really hurts my MPG as rest of my commute is usually really nice roads for no arrow running. I can always override the ICE with hitting the EV button but I'd really like to understand what triggers the ICE warmup after being on the highway.

    Try turning the HVAC fan from whatever speed it is at to OFF.

    If the fan is blowing the and the outside temp is below 65F* you'll get the gas engine coming on just to heat up the fluids in preperation for (or to continue) heating the cabin.

    * note the 65F is the lowest I can set the thermostat in the Gen II here in the US. I'm assuming your low limit is 18c but whatever the low limit is that is the outside temp that will trigger the gas engine if the fan is blowing.

    Even with the AC/fan compleatly off, the ICE still runs. This happened even with the coolant at 85C which should be more then enough

    Are you sure you entered S4 after the coolant was hot enough by stopping the car and let the engine idle up to 10 seconds and shut off by itself?

    Is there a PID for Aux Battery current or an Aux Battery SOC? I see Aux Battery Volts and have been using that (1-11-2012). I've been having some trouble w/ my Aux Battery--killed one in 4 months. It would be nice to see what the charge/discharge currents are.

    Are there CANbus messages or PID that show status of PRIUS steering wheel buttons ?
    Or any TIPS on using the Torque Pro Command button to send CANbus messages?

    Assuming he got Torque and other custom PIDs in your csv file working correctly except the fuel consumption ones, my best guess is that maybe the South African models have slightly different message format? Can Torque record the raw messages for him to take a look?
