I did 999mpg on my 8.5 commute

Now what will be interesting is your return trip over the same route. Are you able to charge at work, and if not, do you have enough EV miles left to make it home, given that you will now be going uphill? Please post tonight, as inquiring minds want to know!
I notice that uphill driving really uses up the EV, without much chance for regen except slowing for traffic lights, etc on surface streets.

 

and, conversely, going downhill gets you a pretty significant boost. i can go for over 2 miles on city streets (35/40 mph) and have an elevation drop of 192→35 feet, while the battery guess-o-meter drops by under a mile.

 

Indeed, driving uphill kills my battery.

 

i had a great drive today. my wife and i went to look at an apartment for our daughter. left with a full charge of 12.4 ev range. all back roads, 39 degrees. went 13.4 miles before the ice kicked on and got to the apartment at 18.4 miles. the ride home was all hv with a warmed up engine, so i turned the heat up to 72. when we got home, the total mpg was 124 and the hv ride home was 16 miles and 74 mpg. pretty sweet for 39 degrees.

 

Poor daughter, Dad kicking her out of the house.... LOL

 

she changed her mind, got it too good here!

 

So Brian, what were the results for the return trip?

 

I think EV performance is great. It is a well thought out / balanced car. Loving it!

 

He's never coming back! Clearly this is a scam being run by Toyota to try to fool us into thinking that such fantastical numbers are possible in the pip!
