I was going to argue, then I recalled that I am not a 'consumer', my Prius is my company vehicle. (As someone who walked the PCT, 2550 miles in 155 days, my business is not going to survive if I only show up with what I can carry on me, days late)

He is an 80 year old, reformed gas-oholic. Now that he's got 'religion' he is out to reform the other gas-oholics. Still, he has access to resources to try and his latest efforts are less-bad than his previous behavior.

Bob Lutz was just the voice and face of a larger pool of Prius-skeptics and that pool has not changed it stripes . . . just become more anonymous and obscure. After all, they don't want to catch Bob Lutz's reformation.

But it's a GM vehicle... who wants THAT!?

I wonder if they suffer with the "Roll-Away" problem?

Silverado and Tundra need a 6 cylinder turbo engine.

The F-series being up more than 10% is a good sign for the economy. Sales go up when construction goes up.

The Ridgeline was a huge disappointment for Honda. The growth is from really low numbers.

The Taco and Tundra seem to be recovering, but things should be kept in perspective. The Taco is experiencing real growth and ford has left the game with the Ranger. I expect it to grow this year. The Tundra looks good in percentage growth terms, but its not catching up. The F series increased sales by around 3x as many trucks as the tundra.

It would be great to see a PHEV break into the top 15 and eventually the top 10.

I just don't see truck drivers taking a fly at this start up. I expect via chairman Lutz to do for this start up what he did for gm. That is land it in bankruptcy protection. That gives buyers a real warranty risk, making leases the only sensible choice for people that want to try out one of the phev trucks and SUVs.

If via starts being successful I would expect Ford, GM, or Toyota to step in to crush it. Proving a market is the only benefit I would give this company. It may instead show there isn't a market here. This is no silicon valley start up like Tesla.

Perhaps, but even home run legends strike out on a regular basis.

We have seen some success with hybrid transit busses. If we look at this as a PHEV limo, there is a market to be captured.

A limo that can get around on EV in town and get 100+ mpg/passenger on city to city trips is economically appealing for operators.

could also make for an interesting ride share vehicle. www.capmetro.org/rideshare/

you guys and your... " too big"... " why not smaller" and other (excuse me) crap comments.

it's about heading in a direction and people pay for it.. not you in particular because you don't see it.. but people will endorse it, and it's an option for people who require the room that they didn't have before..

    get off your pillars.....

Via vehicles get around 35 miles of all-electric range. When the battery is depleted to 20 percent state-of-charge, the generator kicks on to both provide traction and charge up the pack. When the battery is back up to 25 percent, the generator turns off. Bob Lutz-approved Via X-Truck offers 800 hp, 100 MPGe

Charge it 20 hours (on 110V household) to drive 35 miles. Very practical.

i think it's awesome... finally.. a possible solution for the true construction guys... they've been begging for an option.

like my father... who drives an F450 super duty.... 13mpg sucks.. when you're not even hauling anything! (also why my brother no longer uses his F450 and purchased a prius for commuting) you only really haul about 10-20% of the time in that field.
