I just installed the new release of Entune for Android, 1.8.223, dated 1/2/13. It seems to have fixed a few annoying things in the previous versions: 1. They finally got rid of the icon in the notification area. 2. When returning to the car, the HU will automatically restart the previous Pandora channel listened to. With previous versions this was a hit and miss. Sometimes you have to manually relaunch Pandora in the HU, when you get back in the car. Anyone else found anything else new or improved in this version?
I noticed the icon is not in the notification bar, but the car can still connect without having to reopen the application. Maybe only as long as the phone keeps it open. I haven't tested it after restarting the phone with no apps running yet.
No need to launch the app. Restarting the phone puts Entune in a ready state. Must be a background process that starts with the OS.
Here's the official changelog for the 1/2 update: The following updates have been made: • Enabled basic account registration • Updated Pandora library • Updated iHeartRadio library • Improved audio “buffering” • Improved messaging
I'm excited about this latest update as well since they resolved these beta issues. As for the Android version, has anyone looked at the permissions it lists? I'm a little excited by the access permission for my contacts since at present it does not seem to use this permission for anything yet. Hopefully they are listing it for a future enhancement which I hope allows reading my contacts addresses so contact address can be sent to the Prius. I've even tried long pressing an address in my contacts and then press share, but the Entune app isn't listed as an available action for sharing addresses to complete the action with. It really should be listed like the Google Maps app wouldn't you think since this app interfaces with the car that's gunna get you to the destination? Duh... I sure wish the Toyota developers had a beta testing group like other Android developers have so I could help them test features in the field prior to a new version's general release. GT-P7310 ? HD
The contacts are already shared with the speaker phone, you can dial any of the contacts via the HU, read and reply to text messages too.
Same here. With my Android phone, the bluetooth phone syncing shares the contact's name and phone numbers, and provides text message features with my phone, but I'm not getting any addresses to sync. So, are you saying that your Android phone also shares the contacts addresses with the HU too then? GT-P7310 ? HD
One Enture feature I would really like to see, is for it to sync the media library between the USB memory installed in the car, and the phone's media card automatically via BT. Or, implement a media player, to directly access the media on the phone via BT. I prefer to use the HU to control the media player, instead of using the UI on the phone, due to the local anti-text-and-driving law.
Only the phone numbers, no address or email - are you looking to directly access the addresses using the nav? That would be a good idea.
Tell me more! Mine (7.1 HDD JBL) will only play that music on my phone if I launch the media player on my phone, and tune the audio to BT Audio. I have no control of the media from the HU, except for the volume dial.
There is a BT Audio source, but it acts like an audio sink - it picks up whatever my phone is playing, much like plugging into Aux, except for wireless. It offers no control, nor can I browse and select the media on the phone, via the HU, unless I am doing something wrong. I keep a library of MP3 on an USB flash driver plugged into the car - I can browser the media on it and play anything I want, via the HU. It would be sweet if I can do it via BT, for MP3s residing on the phone.
Total newby here. I'm hating Entune. My phonebook synced the first day when the salesguy was there, but hasn't since then. I found that it initally took all my Facebook contacts so I deleted the FB app in the hopes I could minimize the contacts going to Entune when I refreshed the phonebook. Well, I sure did minimize them - they don't go in at all now. On top of that, I don't have IHeartRadio at all (not even grayed out), and I can't use the text or calendar features. I took it to the service department and sat for an hour for them to come back and tell me it's the newest version they have; that another should be out 1/15/13 and maybe that will help me. Does anyone have any thoughts? 2012 Prius 4, Android phone: Evo 4G (not LTE) running 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
I have a HTC Evo Shift, and when I connected the Evo Shift to the Prius, I had to respond to a few permission notifications on the HTC Shift before it would allow it to sync everytime after the first time. Try deleting and pairing it again, and look for the notifications on the phone and just set each permission on the phone to allow everything. The thing is, the notifications where in the pull down notification bar and didn't necessarily pop up on the screen where I would notice them in order to respond to them. GT-P7310 ? HD
When I press the seek buttons or turn the tuning knob, the bluetooth device connected responds. However, the bluetooth devices response is different depending on what app is sending audio at the time. Some apps change back and forth through tracks, while other apps skip forward and back through the current title that's playing. Also, some apps running on my Samsung S3 send the music metadata to the HU so the HU displays what's currently playing over bluetooth with the time and length of the track that's playing. GT-P7310 ? The 7.1 HDD version does not support MTP device iirc, so U cannot plug it an expect media play to sync. There are BT limitation that prevent syncing music of BT even with AVRCP 1.4 specs. Bluetooth sig makes alot of things optional, so some company can just implement the most useless feature in AVRCP 1.4 and claim they are AVRCP 1.4! the Phone really needs to support AVRCP 1.4 browsing, only the new iphone support this BT browsing feature.
Looks like U have the Display Audio with Entune. the text feature is not supported by your phone, U need ICS! Calendar feature only with the certain phones, namely the Symbian phones. Android and iOS didn't implement that function over BT. iHeartRadio is missing? U may want to call Toyota service to mail you an update stick.
