I have a 2012 Prius and live in Montreal. When the temperature gets cold (-20C or so) the windows won't go down. There is no ice visible about the frame so I assume it's something inside the door frame.. Seems unusual and not something that I've noticed on other cars here. Anyone else see this?
I've seen cars (non-Toyotas) where the windows would only work after the car interior was warm. I just assumed it was either water seeping down into the mechanism and freezing or grease in the mechanism freezing. Ask a dealer.
This is normal across all cars, in my experience. It can be mitigated a little by spraying the window channels with silicone spray.
That's probably it. Like Spiderman says it doesn't happen to him but it's dry where he is. It's not dry here in Montreal. Funny though, my last car was a Focus and it didn't do this but my wife had a Corrola and it did. Now she has an Accord and it doesn't. Anyway, no big deal, it's only cold here 8 months out of the year <g>
