It's 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Maybe that 25th month is the grace period? Even though that 5th maintenance doesn't include an oil change, I'd make sure to come in by the 24th month just to be safe. I also doubt the techs know much about a vehicle that comprises <1% of their sales.

yeah it's supposed to be the first 4 maintenances, and they are at 6/12/18/24 months or 5/10/15/20k miles. not sure what the dealer told you, but that's direct from Toyota.

    two things:
–don't worry about running down the battery, when you "run it down", there's still a reserve of charge left (~18%)
–follow the manual. 1 gallon per month is nothing, as far as "waste" is concerned, and it will get you 50 miles. just don't even think about it. if you can time it so that you use it on a longer trip, since as you mentioned running it for 2-3 miles is pretty inefficient, great. if not, don't sweat it.
–as far as your key question is concerned, yeah, we got two other people on the forum with your "problem", so we don't know any better than you do.

but then there's the HV battery. like 2 bars on that, the lowest it will go before ICE kicks in, is 18, no?

My dealership has a new owners night with dinner (sort of). They present the free maintenance plan via powerpoint slides and give various other presentations and Q & A. Mostly (I think) it is to get you to come to them for all your maintenance. The odd "25 months" question was asked and answered at least twice. This is Stevens Creek Toyota in San Jose.

I'd like to amend my findings, today while driving in HV, when SOC reaches 18.0% ICE comes on:oops:

Hi All, The Sta-Bil question can be answered by using a product called Store-n-Start. I have used this gas perservative for years on my boat. Stored 2 200gal tanks of Gas every winter with 2 qts of Store n Start and never had a problem starting the engines in the spring. Old gas turns to a varnish like material and will cause big problems with your engine. So if you feel you have to preserve your gas use Store n Start.

People seem to be forgetting about the rest of the engine.

Oil & Coolant still need to be circulated from time to time, at full operating temperature.

An occasional jump on the highway in HV mode the entire drive would be good for the overall health of the vehicle...
