I know this may have been talked about to death but I cannot find what I am looking for in the forums. I am looking for the best iPod integration kit. I have a '08 and a iPod classic. Is there anything that can put my list up on the MFD?
i use a vaistech sl2i in my prius with great success. very easy to install and it displays current track on the mfd. it will also give you access to view all of your tracks in list view while the car is stopped.
I am getting ready to purchase the VAISTECH MediaLink Plus (ML+ or ML Plus) which seems to be a vastly superior unit! I am very excited about this, because, as wanted by most iPhone/iPod junkies, controlability via the screen is in high demand. This unit does that! If you search for 'ML Plus' in youtube or google (then got to videos) you will see a fantastic demo on a Lexus. I have contacted VAIS and they confirmed that the unit is 100 percent compatible with Gen 5 display in my Prius (2006 Lvl 7). Anyway, after I install it I will provide feedback.
Ok, I installed the ML plus in my 2006 Prius... and I LOVE it! The sound is absolutely fantastic! If you can figure out how to remove your headunit and screen you are almost there. After a little assistance from Ben at VAISTECH I was in business! I will post some pics when I have played with it for a while and learned the ins and outs.
I know this is a fairly old thread, but I've just ordered an ML Plus for my 2008 Prius. I'd be very interested in a description of how your installation went. Where did you put the main box, and where did you route the iPod cable? I'm thinking of either the shelf under the cd changer, or the glovebox (so I can plug the iPad in). Photos of your installation would be great.
I'm considering if I should purchase the VaisTech Medialinq (ML) Plus or not for my Prius 2006 as well. How is it fairing so far? Are you able to get back to the original Prius display to check the MPGs screen? Information on this product is very lacking due to the price they're asking I suppose.
I use one of these, works great! You just can't have the stock 6 disk. Car iPod Aux in MP3 Player Adapter for Toyota Camry Corolla Rezi 4Runner Prius | eBay
Hey AtroloTenri, Is there a way you could post some MFD Screen shots? All the stuff on line is from Lexus MFD screens and I suspect that it will look different for the prius. I am interested in the Apply iPod Out display. Thanks -S
Answering my own question, yes, the 51830 has a CD changer port, works wonderfully with the CD changer based ipod adapter. I didn't even have to remove the stereo to install, I only had to remove the right vent and then could reach around behind to plug in the adapter. Then one hole in the space below the radio for the cables and the system works great. Frank
