"Toyota Hybrid" windshield decal for Prius

Has anyone ever considered applying a windshield decal like this

just like the one on the Prius's 3-time race-winning cousin, the TS030?

Hmm, thanks, that's a very good point. I hadn't really considered that, and it might well be illegal here in Ontario, too. Guess I'd better find out.

And Peter, is the rule in MD (Maryland?) no wider (side to side) than 7 inches, or no higher (top to bottom) than 7 inches?

As for looking tacky, well that of course is down to personal taste. I certainly don't want to make my Plug-in look boy racer-ish, but I am keen not only to make it more attractive (e.g. some tasteful, elegant wheels), but also to acknowledge the TS030 team's efforts to improve Toyota's hybrid system for the future, and its success in kicking Audi's butt in the World Endurance Championship!

 

Well, maybe it would be possible to fit "Toyota Hybrid" in 7 inches. If not, maybe I could lengthen the message to make it fit better. How about "Toyota Hybrid Kicks Audi Butt!"?

 

From your avatar you seem to be a pretty racy guy, and you seem to be aware of the TS030's existence, but from my experience, not many people (even Prius owners) in N. America seem to know much about the car and its exploits in the WEC. And Toyota itself doesn't seem much interested in publicizing the Hybrid Racing effort over here, which is a complete mystery to me. Have they never heard of the old saying, "win on Sunday, sell on Monday"?

I forgot to ask why you don't want the words "Toyota" or "Hybrid" anywhere on your car. Do people in California get violent of something when they see those words on a car?

 

I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever do a trip to California. And we Canucks have to remember that there are some folks south of our border that carry guns!

 

Maybe I could perform a service for Canadian Prius owners by putting an external, fully-visible decal on my windshield and thereby gauge the "Canuck-lehead factor".

For climate change deniers the Prius is a symbol they love to hate. If I do get a windshield decal, it will be interesting to see if the racing connection dampens any of the negative reactions of such people. One reason I'm so keen on playing up the Prius's relationship with the TS030 racing effort is to lend a bit of muscularity to the Prius and try to overcome its cutesy-poopsey, holier-than-thou image, which is what I'm trying to get at in this YouTube video:
