I'd think that probably everyone here's already seen with over 875 million hits now. I FINALLY watched it a few weeks ago and was a bit puzzled as to what the big deal is. I guess the tune is kinda catchy. Anyhow, surprisingly (?), Psy was on Leno in the past few weeks and did a performance there. Seemed like most of the audience were members of the military and they were pretty animated. Thanks to another forum, I just found out about this parody... I've visited the MIT campus so some of the sights were familiar to me. I didn't realize that Noam Chomsky is on MIT's faculty.
It's a catchy song. The song is actually a decent pop reference about what is essentially the spending 100% of possible financial credit to put on a show for others. Something I would argue that was invented here in the states with the advents of credit cards and the persuasions to spend above your means for short term gains. Although I would guesstimate that most of the listeners have no idea what it is about except the one English line "Hey, sexy lady".

What's great is that the song is actually social satire. Mild, but even that's pushing the envelope for South Korea.

IIRC, the YouTube poster's account was closed due to numerous copyright violations. edit: Apparently, it was something else, only 15 seconds long. Someone did post the above College Humor video there and it still remains...
I have been wondering for a while what this was, thanks. I watched the movie with the sounds turned off. The dancing Psy reminds me of Michael Jackson.

No doubt good advice for the full experience, but I'll make do with the limited version. Mostly I was curious because I had read that young people the world over were duplicating the dance style. After watching Psy, I have to say I am surprised it is spreading. A lot of the moves look hard to duplicate.

The military in the audience were really getting into it.
Gangnam is the Hollywood and Silcon Valley of Seoul - sort of a satire of "the beautiful people" of South Korea. You don't have to live large to be happy. A slam dunk for #1 song of 2012.
