I must be getting welcomed into the family of Prius owners in my area - got a flash of headlights and a wave for the first time as I was driving to the post office and another Sea Glass Pearl was in the opposite lane and then a big smile from a driver of a Nautical Blue before hitting the dark, windy, deer-laden road.... Luckily not all drivers out there are disagreeable...
I used to drive Land Rovers, and the enthusiast community would always wave. There was a very active LR Owner internet list serve and the UK members took to mounting a CD-ROM (any CD really) on their grill so that they could identify each other (the UK had vastly more Land Rover drivers, and most were NOT chatting on the Internet). In the US, one guy made grill badges to mutually identify members: Bloody Knuckles Pub I would love to see some kind of grill-mounted PriusChat emblem. The URL sticker is kinda tacky IMHO.
Haven't seen the URL sticker (at least I don't think I have) and a lot of the stuff on CafePress is not my style (except the one that says "Yeah, I can drive a stick" with a picture of a broom).... Folks do like my truck... and wave or beep if I drive by on a road... best was leaving my last place of employment and a guy in a gas powered, new, clean, white F150 drove up to ask me where the pool was as his kid (out of district) was swimming there. He gave the truck the once over (she's been driven hard and shows it ) as the diesel was chugging happily and said "Nice truck." I told him thanks. A little further down the road out of earshot when my windows were rolled up, I giggled to myself, "Yeah, mine's bigger." Like I said in another post, I am so going to Hell someday....
Nice to see that it's still around. We used to do that in the early 2000s when the Prius was still a "novelty" but I haven't gotten a wave since 2006.
Had a cute blonde in an identical Blizzard Pearl give me a big smile and wave, " I smiled big and waved back"
Since I'm a stocky, long-haired, beard growing 20-something Asian guy, I sometimes fear that if I wave at a fellow Prius driver someone's going to call the cops on me.
We are all friends here - a virtual wave to all and Happy Thanksgiving... and thanks for the great posts.
I have only been waved when I am on my road bike, by other cyclists. I have been flipped off more often my impatient drivers though. I smile back and count it as my one finger wave. Happy turkey day everyone. SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 ? 2
The "Wave" was obligatory when I was a Vette owner. I've noticed that the Prius earns special one-finger waves from some passing trucks. That must be a sign of special respect because we're not using enough gas to merit a full wave.
