iPhone Messaging Not sure it's worth the effort...

Sorry , I have a Prius C, which does not have this feature apparently.

 

On our 2012 four with moonroof package the messages can be read while driving - the vehicle does not need to be stationary.

On an iPhone 4 with iOS 5 you cannot reply to the messages via the car - this feature is not supported on iPhones as of now.

 

I installed the Video and gray out override, so everything is good on the go..

 

how do you gray out override?

 

That is weird, my c-3 says, cannot read messages while in motion. I have to be at a stop sign to view the full message.

 

When I said read, I meant the message will be read to you (text to voice recognition).

I've not actually tried to "read" a text message.

I don't know if this works on all models (text to voice) or it is part of the upgraded HDD system on the four with moonroof package.

I have a 3GS iPhone running iOS6.1.2. I do not get any notification of text messages or email as I have read here that others are capable of. Is there a setting for this I am missing? Or is it just not possible with my older phone? (I do have the advanced technology package and Entune is activated and the apps work.)

 

You need to turn it on on your iPhone.The default is off.

Go to settings.
Go to Bluetooth
Go to devices ( mine says car multimedia)
Show notifications turn on

 

Thanks for the screen shot, JMD. My phone doesn't have the notifications on/off that yours shows, maybe because it is a 3GS. It is time to upgrade, anyway, so now I have one more reason to visit the Apple store.

 

Apple rumor on twitter says the new iPone 5s will release in June. Your call but you may want to wait for the 5S it is just 3 months away.

 

Labell here is an article on the new iPhone 5s release this June 29, 2013. Definetly worth the patience. A major announcement is expected.

Thanks, JMD, I have waited this long, I can wait a few more months, even though the battery on my current phone is about shot. The Entune app sure sucks the battery down.

 

I have Entune but I don't use pandora or Heart radio for the battery drain and data overage charges

The bing is all I use to search a destination then save the destination in my car and use with navigation.
